I just shot three hard drives taped together with fiberglass tape, the results were surprising....

The two loads tested were;
1; 14.9 grains of Trail Boss under a 165 grain Hornady SP
2; 17.9 grains of Trail Boss under a 130 grain Hornady SP

Four shots fired, two of each, distance, 25 yards

Load 2 punched clean through THREE hard drives
Load 1 punched through two, and severely dented the third

I wasn't expecting that kind of performance, I expected load 2 to get stopped, barely, by the third drive, and load 1 to stop in the second drive

Load 1 expanded better, the entrance hole in drive 2 looked to be almost .50 caliber, and no bullet fragments were found in drive 3, impact crater in drive 3 was the size of a half dollar.

Load 2 holes showed minimal expansion through all three drives, the exit holes were about .40 in diameter, bullet exited completely

A very impressive load, easy on the shoulder, yet capable of punching through three hard drives

I'll add some pics soon

I had fun with some hard drives back in the day. I didtn stack any behind each other, but found that 1 would stop a .22 from a rifle, but was not up to the task of stopping a .45.

I maintain that putting a big (insert favorite caliber here) caliber hole in a hard drive is the safest way to ensure that your data will NOT be recoverable.
