I saw one of these today, for sale. Nice little gun.

However, per department policy, it is DAO.

How hard would it be to change it back to the standard DA/SA configuration?

It still has a spur hammer, it just doesn't lock back when you try to cock it.

You'd need to have a new hammer fitted.

These were altered by grinding the single action shelf off the hammer, so it's not a matter of just installing a small part.

I figured as much.

It's just the hammer, though?

The gun would be useful as-is, and it's hardly a target gun, either. I was just trying to figure out what it would take.

Thanks!

Obviously a hammer, and possibly a trigger - although there is a good chance the trigger wasn't modified. However I'd try it out, "as is," especially if pocket carry might be in the future. If so, remove the rest of the hammer spur to prevent snagging.

You might try checking with the LAPD Armorer.
Years ago, my sister bought a Detective Special,
from an LAPD person. She gave it to me.
It was double action only.
I called LAPD and spoke to the armorer,
he said bring it in and he'd return it to double or single.
He did it at no charge. This was in the late 70's or early 80's.
