Speaking of new old M-14's.
I was watching news film of the Haiti earthquake the other night and there were a bunch of paramilitary looking cops? wandering around with very nice looking wood stock M-14's.

No wonder our GI's can't get enough of them to fill thier needs anymore.

Also wonder if we could swap out some M16's for some of those little used M-14's they apparently have down there?

BCCL,

:what: I just noticed the serial number on that jeep. I pretty sure that your buddy stole it from my old unit. Some where in the world there is an old grizzled motor pool Sergeant turning over in his grave. :D

cool pics. I learned to drive a stick on my Capt. jeep. Got caught by my LT. for spinning the tires in the gravel.

Since when are our troops looking for a larger, longer, heavier, rifle, with less out of the box accuracy, needs tuned up every 2 hundred rds to shoot 1 MOA, allows you to carry alot less ammo, etc etc.
Just because an old article from 5 plus years ago or TV show said once that the Marines are recycling old M14s for a less expensive temporary alternative for the basis of designated marksman rifles until they recieve the new rifles. Its doesnt mean they are rushing out to snap up every one in sight to make use of. Those old m14s they are recycling are for a single purpose (not at all to replace the M4 which is a far superior weapon for the modern battlefield), and require thousands in modifications, to build.
The recycled modified m14s were simply a temporary fix until the new designated marksman rifles showed up.
