Old Marlin 22

I have a 1971 Marlin model 60 I am redoing for my grandson. I have refinished it both wood and metal and it actually shoots! It was thrown into an attic by someone and left there for about 20+ years after being banged around a lot. It now looks pretty good. Problem, it will not feed consistently. This model is tube fed and supposedly semi auto. I tried running 40 rounds through it of various types of 22 ammo. Ran them 5 at a time and could not get more that 2 to feed before it jammed and bent the cartridge. Any ideas out there?

Feed throat

Part number 20 on the new style rifle.
I bet you have the old style rifle and that is part number 28a.

Does it shave little crescent moons of lead off the rounds sometimes? That is a feed throat problem too, see this...

allin, has the tube have any dents in it?. Hopefully when you disassembled it you ran a patch or two thru the tube itself after you re-blued it.
