I have had a scoped Marlin Golden 39A lever gun for almost 30 years. I love the thing for plinking and plinking varmits too.
Today I was basically given a used but very clean Marlin Model 60 semi auto. Yes a much less expensive .22 rifle but even with the open sights, my less than perfect vision, and free standing shooting at dusk, it is surprisingly accurate and consistent. This thing is just fun!

I too have one (hand me down from my grandfather) and share your opinion. It is a great little gun, especially when you factor in that it is a great value.

I've got an old blue Papoose and that MicroGroove barrel really shoots nice. The Marlin 60 is probably one of the most underrated 22s around. The 10/22 gets all the glory and all the accessories. The ideal accessory for the 10/22 would be to mount a Model 60 barrel on it!

More praise for the 60. Mine has a cheap Simmons scope and is my favorite squirrel rifle. The Marlin 60 don't need to be acessoried like a Ruger, they are good right out of the box.

I need to get another Marlin 60. My wife has claimed mine for herself. She did the same thing with the used S&W M64 I bought. :D

back when I had 9 .22 rifles I sold the Marlin 60 to my nephew, he took it down and cleaned it well and put a 4X Weaver on it. he practices on walnuts at 50 yards offhand and don't miss. he got that tubular reload device. a man-sized target at 100 yds - 'I pity the fool'
