Does anyone know if any companies still produce a holster for an older 5904 with the square triggerguard. I got the pistol in a trade but it does not really fit the holster I have for my 4003 and 4006's that have the round triggerguard. Any advice would be appreciated.

Where are you?

Backwoods Custom Leather in Portsmouth, VA (I can get the specific address, if you're interested in going over there) still has the molds for these guns. Take him about 2 weeks to make it if he doesn't have it in stock. Prices are good for the level of workmanship you get. He always goes to the Richmond (Mechanicsville) Showplace Gunshows and Hampton, VA show. I bought one of his holsters for my 6906. The holster was for a square triggerguard gun, but fit my rounded 6906 perfectly. I get most of my holsters from Backwoods (he makes a paddle holster that is just awesome).

Thanks Southpaw, Not very close though, I am in Southwest Virginia almost in tn. so it would be a long trip but I would still like the address if you could get it for me. I see plenty of holsters for the 5904 but most are for the rounded triggerguard. The holsters I have for my 4003 with the rounded triggerguard are not a good fit so I am thinking the square triggerguard holster will work for rounded trigger guards but not vice-versa as the square triggerguard seems to take up more space. Of course that may not be true in all holsters.

Really, my father's side of the family is from some town called Sugar Grove, Virginia. By my understanding, it's somewhere in Smyth County. Been there once about 20 years ago. From what I'm told, it's not that far from Bristol, TN. Doesn't seem to have grown much, pop. is still in the 700's sounds like a good place for a quiet getaway, though.

Anyway, Backwoods address is: 3022 Tyre Neck Road Portsmouth, VA 23703 (757) 483 4872.

He actually told me once he prefers to make 3rd Gen S&W holsters with the square mold b/c it will fit both. Prices are reasonable, I've got several IWBs from him for under $40. They're similar to the Hume H715M. Workmanship is at least as good as Galco (I think better) and prices are much more reasonable.

This place is great. About 14 yrs ago, I started going to them for all of my holster needs, duty, concealment and S.A.S.S. Everything was very reasonably priced and made to my specs. I called them tonight about a new rig, I live in South Carolina now, and he told me just call them with what I want when I'm ready. Can't beat that. They are definately one of the best.
