Old Style Rem Extractor

Has anyone got any info, pros & cons on mods for switching the REM 700 bolt over to a SAKO extractor.

As prone as the REM rifle extractor's seem to be to breaking, despite thier great numbers we really don't see that great of percentage of them broken.

THAT said.

Only the late model extractor is easily available,

If what broke the factory extractor damaged the bolt, the replacement will be more prone to breakage,,,

Any Model other then the 700 with a broken or iffy extractor is a candidate for the SAKO conversion, the benifits outway the cost.


the biggest CON, is that the modifcation and MACHINING required done wrong will ruin a bolt
