Decades ago I tried a pistol grip on my old 1200 18.5” pump 12 ga., but the recoil even with 2.75” 00 buck was too uncomfortable, so back on with the original wood buttstock.

Now I see there are these so-called tactical stocks with pistol grips.... this one at Brownell’s for $95.
Heck, I only paid $120 for the SG new, but I sure would like better control of the gun, particularly in a stressful situation.

What say you knowledgeable shotgunners, as I am not really a long gun guy, worth the investment?

I have a 1300 with a 'normal' synthetic stock and recoil pad. Works well. I've not tried one of the pistol grip shotgun shoulder stocks but I've heard they are hard on your wrist. Someone might opine on that. I know I could shoot a shotgun tactical course (ahem) with the gun and no real recoil problems.

Pistol grip only on shotguns is the dumbest idea ever. For movies and idiots. Increases recoil and lowers accuracy. Pistol grip with stock on shotguns second dumbest idea ever. Pure waste of money. Traditional stock with recoil pad .

Take half the money you’d spend on that new stock into ammo, pattern that shotgun at about seven to ten meters so you know what to expect with various brands of standard 2 3/4”
00buck rounds and you’ll come out money ahead -then practice until that popper is all you’ll ever need when it’s all on the line...
