i just got this older rem. 28ga 1100 with a 25 inch barrel with a skeet choke from my turkey hunting buddy,i have a rem 870 in 28ga with a mod choke and it is one of my favorite rabbit hunting shotguns, with winchester one oz #6 loads. how do you think the skeet choke with the one oz loads of 6,s will do out to 25-30 yards for rabbits? the mod choke in the 870 rem 28ga kills very well out to 30yards.my buddy knew i had a rem 870 in 28ga,so he said why don,t you buy my 1100 in 28? he offered it to me at a very good price,it has been used and still is in very good condition. eastbank.

I have one also, around '74 vintage, with what was originally a skeet choke, but it has been fitted with Briley tubes, and it has mahogany wood. I think the 25" barrels are perfect on the 28s. Skeet chokes are supposed to be tuned for 21 yards and smaller shot. Before trying to stretch the range I would shoot some paper at various ranges. I would think you would be okay at 25 yards, but you never know with any gun until you try it.
