i bought this early 2-3/4 chambered 20ga rem 1100 on the larger frame with a fixed imp cyl choke, while its a very good rabbit gun, i would like to have removable remington choke tubes installed as i have 5 or 6 remington factory choke tubes. the serial number is L979495X., can any one recomend a person to thread the barrel for factory remington 20ga tubes at a decent price? thanks eastbank.

What's wrong with buying a more modern barrel for a 20ga. model 1100. I did that about 10-15 years ago for my 12ga. Model 1100.

the barrels for the older 20ga 1100,s on the larger frame are hard to find, i guess i may have to go with colonial tubes. eastbank.

You can buy a remchoke barrel for around $200, at least that's what they were going for on the 12ga model I have. Briley's makes some good remchokes.

I find that I use IC chokes the vast majority of the time anyway. It is the most useful tube for shots at the most common ranges anyway I'd leave it as is, you can somewhat change patterns by your ammo choices. By the time you spend the cash to have the work done and buy a few non-standard tubes you'll have more in the conversion than the gun is worth. And probably use the IC tube most of the time anyway

I was going to go with Mike Orlen to have the barrel for my LW setup for screw in chokes but just have not got around to it.

i called mike orlen this afternoon and he quoted me 55.00 to thread the barrel for tru chokes, 29.00 for a full choke tube and 20.00 return postage, for a total of 104.00. i think i,ll box the barrel up and send it out this week. eastbank.

Aren't you going to need more then one Full Coke tube though?

Better get an Imp Cyl & Mod tube too.

The Full will be to tight for much of anything.

You can buy Trulocks from many places, including the maker. Not sure if Mike's price is better or not, but even if equal, you'll save separate shipping costs.

i can buy the thu chokes at a little better price here and will buy several more when the barrel gets back. the rem 1100 20ga is a good rabbit gun, but i like to use 1 oz #4,s for rabbits as only takes a few to kill a rabbit and its not full of shot but the pattern gets a little too thin at 35-40 yards with the imp cyl choke. two of my favorite small game shotguns are a browning bss sporter in 20ga and a fox steringworth in 16ga, both are pretty light and offer two chokes to chose from. i use 1 oz #4,s in the mod barrel and 1-1/8 oz #5,s in the full barrel in both double barrels. the 20ga rem 1100 barrel goes out this morning, i,ll post on the barrel when i get it back. eastbank
