Picked up this Model 38 and had to put on the Pearl grips. From this day forward I will no longer be known as surjimmy. You may call me Pimp Daddy Mac. Please post any pimp guns you might have laying around, and could someone explain to my what the N in for on the cylinder, and when it was made?

N = Nickel

Nice looking snubby there. I don't have my Standard Catalog with me now, but I'm sure someone will be by later with the approximate DOM.

Nice looking set-up you have there. Reminds me of my first Model 38 I had over 30 years ago. Didn't have any pearl grips for it but I did add a Tyler T-Grip adapter to it for better fit and control.

Looks great, but don't shoot it.

I had a model 36 with identical stocks and finish. Went to try it out using standard 158-grain .38 Special's. The back of the trigger guard promptly opened up a cut on my 2nd finger and I bled like a stuck pig!

If you are determine to leave it as it is, do install a grip adapter. ;)

Old school pimp gun?? I'll show you an OLD SCHOOL pimp gun.......... :neener:

That there's a gold plated Tranter cap 'n' ball revolver.
Sorry about the poor quality pic - it's pretty tasty in the flesh.

I concede, Phil wins but I think for that era. We would have to call him "Lord Pimp Daddy Mac"

LOL Surjimmy :D

Sadly it's not mine - it belongs to a guy in our club who is a dealer.
Don't you sometimes wish these old guns could talk? They'd tell a tale or two I bet..............

Phil

"I SAY OLD BEAN, what the devil is with that trigger setup?"

Well spotted that chap! ;)

On the Tranter Double Trigger models the lower trigger was pulled using the middle finger which rotated the cylinder and brought the hammer to full cock. Note the hammer has no spur so can't be cocked as normal. Light pressure on the top trigger would then fire the shot. Looks a bit weird but feels fairly natural to use.

More here

Not wanting to start a Transatlantic tiff but British revolvers like the Tranter, Kerr and Adams were actually pretty advanced compared to their American contemporaries. :p

Yes , well on this side of the pond we always got a thrill when Holmes told Watson to bring the revolver, that Webley was monster compared to the colt .32s seen in most shows of that era. ;)

How's this for an old school pimp gun? S&W New Model Number Three. Chambered for 44 Russian. Made in 1882. Refinished at the factory in 1965.

That is a very very cool break top DWJohnson, but I don't know if it is obnoxiously "blingy" enough to be considered "pimp." I think more sophisticated and classic when I see it. So cudos there.

Now if that gun wore a puple hat with a feather in it, used a gentleman's walking stick or cane, wore a fur coat, and walked with a limp......... I'd say it was fully pimpish!

Would these 1911s of mine wearing these grips fall under the pimp-gun category?

Nice 38 Super C&L! That is SHARP. I always loved that Schnubb 1917.....

(I here Les Baer himself carries a 38 Super by the way.)

Would these 1911s of mine wearing these grips fall under the pimp-gun category?

Almost. Get some leopard print grips and then we'll talk.

Is that a TOOL album art poster you have those 1911's sitting on? Nice guns by the way.

The inventory is getting obnoxiously pimpish now with some of those grips that have gem stones in them. Good lord!!! Interesting, but hideous!
