Yeah Mossberg sure likes pandering to the tacticool crowd.

About 5 years ago I drew up some designs for a "tactical lever action". However, it was built upon the Browning BLR action or Savage 99 would suffice. Standard monte carlo synthetic stock, the forearm had a rail for whatever. Had a top rail for mounting optics. And it used STANAG mags or FAL/M1A etc depending on caliber.

It basically was a mix between a Guide Gun and the Remington Police pump rifle. It would be way more useful than what Mossberg has. Of course, I was really proud of what I drew up off the top of my head.

"...My Eyes...My Eyes..Sharp pointy sticks for my eyes.."

Dang, I was gonna say that. I guess I'll have to go with, "If thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out (and thy left one also)."

Whats next, tactical toilet paper?

Already been done!

This one?

So THAT is what the handle is for on my PKM. Damn, I've been trying to figure that out!

At least now I know where to wall-mount it.

why is it that any discussion about mossberg immediately turns into an all out bashfest? yes they make ugly lever actions that no self respecting cowboy would keep on his saddle. yes they modernized the lever action design in a completely goofball way. and yes, people still buy them and love them. if someone didn't want them then mossberg wouldn't make them.

seriously guys, the 464 has been out for a while now, I would expect the shock to have warn out by now. I kindof wish that someone would post a few range reviews so a bit of the stigma can be dispelled enough that someone can start a thread about them without 90% of the replies saying "that thing is a travesty and only a blind mall ninja would buy one".

Not a fan of the looks either...

I got a chance to handle one the other day. Surprisingly comfortable and seemingly well built. I think if I had the money, I'd buy one. In the store, it really kinda grew on me. Would love to put a few thru it. However, money isn't there for it.

I think it should come with an extended magazine tube....

Seriously though, I would buy a synthetic stocked lever gun, maybe even with a rail on it for a red dot, but I can't stand colapsable stocks.

OK, it's uglier than a mud fence, but no less a light than Jeff Cooper praised the M94 (yes, I KNOW THIS ISN'T REALLY AN M94) for it's handling capabilities and utility in communities where handguns were proscribed. That being said, the best thing about an M94 is the quick way it gets to the shoulder, and the foregrip handle thingy gets in the way of that. I wouldn't kick it out of the safe it one somehow appeared there.

I've seen this thing before and still think it's about the dumbest looking rifle I've ever seen. One of the few guns out there that I'm not sure I would even take if they were giving them away for free let alone buy one. What were the guys at Mossberg thinking? Some one should get fired over that rifle. If/when this "tactical" fad ever ends that rifle will probably be a collectors item...lol The Edsel of guns..... only it makes the Edsel look good by comparison....

As far as a "Tactical Lever Action" goes, I believe my dad preferred to carry a .45-70 in Vietnam while "in the paddy" and the Ithaca M37 when "in the shade". His bunk mates carried a Marlin 444 and a 12 gauge coach gun that was shortened at the barrel and stock. They got their ammo from the Philippines, I still have some crazy .45-70 from there.

A boat anchor....just like the Rossi Ranch Hand, except that a set of the Rossi's make better coffee table legs.

You all are missing the hidden gem of the Mossberg tactical lever action...and its actually a really BIG gem: Remove bird-cage flash hider, attach SILENCER. Now you have a silenced lever action rifle, that if loaded with some 220gr pills would make for some very interesting hunting. Am I really the only one who gets real excited at the prospect of this?

Its not personal its just Business

The company is marketing a product. Marketing is all about finding NEW customers.

If you have wanted a COWBOY LEVER ACTION this "tactical rifle" will not stop you from buying the regular version.

But, if you want something different, then this may just get you into your local gunshop.

Running a gun business is about selling product, not loving the guns of yore.... Unless they are on the use rack for sell.

Would you like a box of over priced Tactical bullets to go with that rifle young man?>
