On finding guns... .

Heh. Makes me wonder if you could duct-tape one of those security detector wands to a broomhandle as a stopgap field metal detector. Heh.

Dunno about you, but I think I'd be a little more lily-livered and chicken-hearted and pantywaisted about dragging some of that WWII ordnance out of the ground. Couple of scenes in that one where I cringed a little. The first one of those drum mags I thought was a land mine and half expected the video to go blank.

Oh, well, I reckon those guys knew what they were doing, but there are instances I've read/heard about where some of that old ordnance went KB, and I didn't get to be 75 yo by being uncaring about things-that-contain-nitrates. :what:

I thought I saw a center-fire rifle casing in some of the stuff the Civil War guy found. Probably a deer hunter's ejected case. (If he found only one case, I'd bet the guy got the deer. :D )

Many thanks for those vids! Fascinating. Makes me want to go investigate metal detector circuits. Reminds me somewhat of the Theremin musical instrument.

I always liked the show where they pulled a Panther tank out of a river in Poland. And I believe someone found a Russian KV-1 tank in a river in Russia.
