I'm curious, how many of us would like to end the media bias. This bias that's getting shoved down the throats of Americans has been the death of us. Writing to the media might not be that effective. It only works when the people who run it don't have an agenda...

But some of the media outlets seem to have bogs on their websites. It seems that they use these so brainwashed people can pat them on the backs. How many of us are on those blogs. What if even 300 of us did that to balance it? What if all of us did? What if there were 5000 of us on every one of those blogs calling them on every spin, right on their own website?

I'm not asking people to cause trouble, just confront the media and the people they are supposed to serve with the truth. Could we just make it a little more uncomfortable for the media to continue putting an anti-gun spin on everything?

The media is already being taken back. The internet is the freest press in the history of mankind and it's keeping the old media a hell of a lot more honest than it used to be. The days when their yellow journalism and outright lies went unchallenged are over and they know it. I have been seeing lots of pieces lately in the MSM about guns and gun control that are actually honest and fair, and some of them are even outright pro-gun. This would have been unthinkable just 15 years ago.

Not really.

Yes, really.

Do you think an article like this would've ever seen the light of day 15 years ago?

What about this?

This piece isn't pro-gun by any stretch of the imagination, but it's a lot more fair and balanced than any we would've ever seen before:

The blogs supposedly went heavily for Obama.

One could argue that this is insignificant since there was little difference between Obama and McCain.

There seem to be new left-wing talk shows, who, for instance, attack Justices who voted pro-gun in the Heler case.

There was enough for one to get an NRA endorsement.

Yes, and there are at least as many right-wing talk shows who attack justices who voted anti-gun in the Heller case, so what's your point? Liberal media bias was never a big problem in talk radio anyway.

There was enough for one to get an NRA endorsement.

I'm a GOA guy, so don't even get me started on that. :D

There didn't used to be liberal talk shows like that with the audience they get.

But if the media really is getting better, why not create a blog there to make sure it stays that way?

Well, around here, the vast majority of talk show hosts are right-wing. Maybe things are different in your market.

But if the media really is getting better, why not create a blog there to make sure it stays that way?

There are already plenty of good pro-gun blogs. If I want to devote time and energy to the cause, it's probably better spent elsewhere.

Excellent. Shame on any of you that are still sending a plugged nickel to the local fishwrapper. You can find out who died and who won the ballgame online. Any MSM that wants your money should be told at every available opportunity that leftist activism masquerading as news will get nothing from you but contempt.

Boycottt the local newspaper

The Palm Beach Post In West Palm Beach Florida is in deep financial trouble because of their failure to carry any negitive articles about Obama Bin Biden and lack of any postive articles about McCain, only negitive. They have laid off about 185 people and no longer print their paper and the printing is sub contracted out to another paper. The paper has been reduced in size and in content and now has more ads than news. I give it a year before the advertisers drop their ads, because of lack of circulation, and it is forced out of business.

John Stossel has been doing shows like this, including the truth about gun control, since the early 1990s

John Stossel maybe, but no one else. Stossel is the media's token non-liberal.

That article in Time would never have been published back then.

chuckusa has the right idea...

boycott everything we can that has anything to do with unfair coverage and supports gun control..... start only watching the fox news channel... they aren't perfect but they are not the socialist crap on the big channels... i haven't seen stossel on tv for quite awhile now.... is he still around? i only watch my local channels for about a half an hour each day then go to fox news to get the unbiased news of the world for about 2-4 hours at a time....... shep smith, bill o'reilly, hannity, and what ever else shows up there ...........

Want to change the bias of the media?

Buy it.

All media corporations reflect the biases of their owners. Not the writers, not the hosts... the owners.

Doesn't matter if it's Ted Turner or Rupert Murdoch... or GE.

If the bosses don't want it said, it don't get said.

Most missed my point. I don't want to change their bias, just call them on it publically. The more people that speak up, the more sheeple that may start listening. If we point it out enough that people start taking notice, then that makes it harder for the anti-gun bias.

It doesn't mean that they will have less of a true bias. But it does make the spin they put less effective. If all we do is gripe about in a forum where everyone agrees, we're sheeple too. We need to be a little bolder than that and point it out elsewhere, and I can't think of a better place than the blogs and forums right on the liberal media websites.

Yes, they can control the postings and delete posts. But when people start seeing that happen, maybe a couple will wake up. I'm not even asking for much time here--this one is easy to do...

I think a part of it is sensibilities. Certain things offend certain peoples' sensibilities. For whatever reason they must broadcast the fact; and chasten people to concur and remove or ban item from society.
Why not start a website that tells of positive stories of people using firearms to defend themselves? Something the mainstream will never do.
Advocate firearm safety and training. There you go.

Ive thought about it. It will last about 30 seconds and get three views in a world filled with Media giants sitting on 60 days supply of news print and ink.

I vote with my wallet. I read the internet for the news mostly and keep an eye on Fox for problems in the USA or the World. The rest of them can jump off thier media towers.

There is no way we can influence the media. Call them when we can, but their minds and agendas are already decided.
Mass media is America's worst enemy. They have more power than politicians.

Mass media has:
The power of suggestion
The power of censorship
The power of scrutiny
The power of repetition
The power of smear

Do you know of any elected officials with that much power?

The best we can do is undermine their influence.

I don't think they have more power than politicians, I believe they have more influence than anything.

The best thing we can do is choose. I choose to only pay attention to media outlets that I believe are fair. IMO newspapers are obsolete as they print what was on the internet the day before.

It is our job to read between the lines and decide if their reports are accurate and/or relevant.
