Recently I've bought 150 pounds of once fired brass so I Really don't need any more (and I'm going to run out of Primers). One of my suppliers said he has a 1,000 pounds that he offered me. (OUCH) I'm not really interested in getting into selling brass but was curious if people are having a hard time finding Brass or not.

The first 60 pounds had 28 lbs 9mm, 12 pounds of .45, 8 pounds of .223 and 12 of .380, .40 and 10mm. Still Cleaning it. (Chemical and tumbling)

**To Mr. Walkalong, Thank You for re-opening the Reloading Supplies Thread. Thanks to many here for posting. Earlier this week I was going to Post that X-Treme Bullets had 9mm but Couldn't and was afraid it would be permanently CLOSED.

I find that generally in the reloading supplies section on the forum there are a fair amount of sellers. At least for the common stuff. 10 MM or 380 not always so many and those command higher prices. I have sold off brass I had saved after seing a firearm or bought in a lot purchase with little trouble if priced right. But it would seem to be a hard way to make a living. Today brass is still reasonable to find, a year from now who knows what things will look like. Just sayin.
Just don't get me started on primers though.:p

Just be aware... if you choose to sell your .45 brass. .45ACP brass is now mixed between small and large primers. Many buyers will want one or the other because you can't mix n match brass on a progressive press.

Proccessing a lot of brass I have found a couple of 223 pueces of brass with beridian primers, one 9mm case with a beridian prime. Lots of 7.62x39 and 7.62x51 with beridian primers.

Brass hasn't been a problem for me so far as many shooters just leave it on the ground at the outdoor range I shoot at. I almost always come home with more .223 and 9mm brass than the rounds I shoot. I don't find .45 acp real often but can usually catch just about all of mine on my tarp so it's not an issue either.

All I know is certain calibers of dirty once fired still has the primer in it brass is going for stupid amounts of money.

Welcome to THR, FastOldGuy! :D

Recently I've bought 150 pounds of once fired brass ...
Just wanted to say that reading that made me chuckle & smile. :)

In response to your specific question, sorry, I know not whether or not brass is currently hard to source. Logically (assuming any healthy logic applies in our situation :)), I would imagine that case-shortages would represent the final stage that we would experience considering that cases can be reused.

Last time I purchased OFBrass was probably about a year ago (.38spl & .357mag).

I think that since the Obama Era Ammo/Component Panics are still visible in the rearview mirror, at lot of folks who have long enjoyed this hobby are sitting on a, more-or-less, comfortable stockpile of reloading components.

Have fun cleaning, sorting, and assessing all of that brass ... I know that I (and many here) would. ;)

I would say brass prices have risen. Last year if I shopped around I could find 45 acp brass for about a nickel a piece for 1000 piece or bigger lots of once fired/range pickup stuff that had been tumbled. It looks like you would pay at least double that based on a brief look at gunbroker.

Brass is usually about the last reloading component to become scarce. I just browsed through the on-line places that I order from regulary and it appears that by shopping around I can still find just about every caliber. But there are a lot of places that have vacancies in their inventories. So it is getting more scarce. And I don't think this panic is near being over.

Most of us think we would drool over 1000# of brass until we have it and begin sorting it! But if you bought it cheap enough you probably could turn a profit. I'm not sure if it would be worth the work or not.

9mm, 223 and even 40 S&W still go pretty cheap. And myself and others are still finding it laying around. But 45, 44, 10mm, 38/357, 38 Super and even 380 seem to be scarcer and would bring more and sell quicker.

Reading these posts about 45auto brass i am glad the only gun i shoot it in is the blackhawk (revolver), eject and put back in the box, never hits the ground (or mud in a few notable occasions). Doesn't get stepped on either.
