Love the 1911 but chose 357. It is my dirt simple bedside revolver and uses the same ammo as my lever carbine.

There are good arguments to be made for nearly all of them , especially 9mm and .357,
but if there can be only one... .45acp.

I like the 10mm. Light loads, heavy loads and in a semi auto. Very versatile. And in the Glock 20 has a grip that doesn't feel too small. Yeah, I am kinda in love.

9mm.

I can shoot my 9mm one handed, right or left, in a less than ideal position. The same can't be said for .40 or .45 (for me personally). However, it's also strong enough to rely on for a variety of needs and I can also compete with it

I like the .38 Special quite a bit, but I'm getting away from revolvers more these days.

And I'm getting away from larger handguns these days as well.

So, if I had to choose one caliber for the rest of my life, I would choose the 380 Auto.

Guys, bear in mind that we're talking "which one draws the bigger smile on your face". It's not about a SHTF situation, survivalism, etc... It's about the one you enjoy more when you shoot it. Sheer shooting pleasure.

I'm kind of surprised to see 9 Luger in the lead, but felt some peace of mind seeing .45 ACP and .357 Magnum trailing close. Aren't you guys Americans?. I'm a European and love that .45, thought I would find similar passion for it over here ;).

NORDESTE- I know what you mean. This is America darn it, and we developed the .45 ACP because we couldn't kill the hostile Philipinos in the early 20th century.

.45 ACP feels so much better in a full sized steel handgun, and I for one can shoot it much more accurately than 9. Besides, my favorite triggers are on .45 1911s.
