Obviously an incomplete list. You forgot -

7.62x25 Tokarev (Česká Zbrojovka vz.52)
9x18 Makarov (Česká Zbrojovka vz.82)

Blbec!

I didn't forget them, I just didn't include them.

I didn't include .22 Short, .22 Long, .22 Magnum, .22 WRF and dozens more, either.

BUT, if there's a caliber not listed that YOU would include in your 6, please include it with your reasons why.

Might make this more interesting!

Here goes:

I'll take my .22 in TCM form, which right now means an RIA double stack 1911.

You say one per caliber. The TCM is .224, I think I'll add a .223 caliber in the form of a .22LR Ruger MkII.

Considering how sloppy cartridge namers are about actual bore sizes, I'll go with the 7.62x25 (tokarev) which is only .001" smaller than .32ACP. TT-33 for the gun.

Also a .32 ACP Seecamp for a deep concealment/pocket gun.

I think I would go with 10mm Auto for easy ammo availability (tho 10mm magnum could be fun) in a STI 2011.

That's a cartridge not a caliber. Super Redhawk 4" barrel in either .454 casull (if you really meant caliber) or with the chamber shortened by 0.1" so it will only fit colt length brass if we are playing that game.

That is six, all in different calibers.

22 - Ruger SR22

.38 Special - S&W 642

.357 Magnum - S&W 586 4"

.40 - Beretta PX4

.44 Magnum - Ruger Super Redhawk

.45 acp - 1911

Six cartridges/handguns, choosing from the list given:

-.22lr, S&W 7.5" M41 for target & fun
-.38 Special, Ruger LCR w/ CT grip for CCW
-.357 Magnum, Ruger GP100 6"
-9mm, Glock 34 Gen4
.45 acp, Glock 41
.45 Colt, Ruger SRH Alaskan

.22 - Colt Woodsman (or S&W M41)
.357 - OM Ruger BH 6" (or FA M97)
.44 - OM Ruger SBH 5.5"
.45 - 1911 Commander, Les Baer...Dan Wesson would be ok too
.475 Linebaugh - Ruger Bisley 5.5" (for the big stuff)

I guess I lean towards the outdoor uses rather than defense...hope I never need a quick reload. There are some I would surely miss, but I could get it done with those.

.22 Browning Buckmark
.380 Ruger LCP
9mm S&W 3913
.357 Ruger GP100
.40 Glock 23
.44 mag Ruger Redhawk

These would be in my safe.
.380 Walther PPK
9x19 mm Beretta 92fs
10mm Delta Elite
.357 Magnum GP100
.44 Magnum SRH
.45 acp 1911
I see no love for 38super and 357sig.

6 pistols huh I only get 6
Raging Bull 454
FNP 45
Colt 357 & 44 mag
Firestar 9mm
MkII ruger 22 Lr

Changed my mind this week I want all Smiths
Smith M41 22
Smith 442 38
Smith 6926 9mm
Smith M19 2 1/2" 357
Smith 1076 10mm
and a 6 1/2" M29
Next week I'll do Colts

.38/.357 Ruger SP101
9mm G17
.40 G22
.45 Ruger P345
10mm S&W 1076

That's 6 if you split up the SP101 :) I've enjoyed shooting the middle 3. I'd like to shoot the other 2 someday.

Because of the "no replacement" and "buy all spare parts at the same time," I would have to do a heck of a lot more research to decide on all six. But for starters:

Since the "gun" part of the Mk3/45 series is the receiver/barrel, I would get both grip frames out of the deal in my spare parts package. Unfortunately, barrel is going to be fixed. I would go with the Lite with a threaded barrel, I suppose.

The Glock frames seem to take a beating. I would get plenty of spare parts, and a spare OEM barrel (or maybe a threaded barrel?) for when they start to wear out after 80,000 rounds. :)
I would have a G21 and a 9mm... Maybe a G19. Maybe a G35... Haven't quite decided. Probably the G35 in case I want to do any competition shooting.

I would really like to have a 10mm Glock, but the whole "can only buy factory ammo" kind of spoils it. For that matter, who in their right mind would take a 45 Colt over a 44 magnum, in light of that restriction?

The 357 is easy. I'd get a Dan Wesson with the exchangeable barrels and at least 4 different length tubes for it. Hunting, HD, or CC. Got it covered.

I would have to do a lot more research before settling on my CC guns, in either 380, 40SW, or 9x18, I suppose. From what I'm left with. I would probably choose 9mm for CC irl. But I think I'd rather use that caliber on my range/fun gun, considering the crazy restrictions in the OP. Can I have a PPS/G26 reamed out and registered as a 9x21? :) :)

9x19 mm: Browning Hi-Power

.357 Magnum: S&W Performance Center V-8

9mm-CZ 75
40s+w CZ 2075 RAMI
10mm EAA Witness Elite Match
45 acp- SAR K2
357 Ruger LCR

There does seem to be a pattern in my gun closet

22 LR Beretta Bobcat (wheel guns are more fun, but this one is very compact)
9 x 19 mm CZ-75 (along with a Kadet conversion kit for 22 LR goodness)
.357 Magnum Colt Python (might as well go collectible)
10 mm Glock 20 (can get an aftermarket 40 S&W barrel for it)
44 Magnum S&W M29 (it's what I'm used to)
45 ACP Colt 1911 (as modified by myself)

If I had to pick just six:

  1. .22 = Ruger Mk II
  2. 9x19 mm = Glock 19
  3. .38 Special = S&W 642 Airweight
  4. .357 Magnum = S&W 686+
  5. .44 Special = S&W 629
  6. .45 acp = Glock 21

I'd go with what I have:

.22 -- Colt Woodsman

.32 -- no use for this cartridge

.380 -- no use for this cartridge

9x19 mm -- no use for this cartridge

.38 Special -- Colt Detective Special

.357 Magnum -- Colt M357 (same as the Python, but without the cosmetics)

.40 -- no use for this cartridge

10mm -- no use for this cartridge

.41 Magnum -- no use for this cartridge

.44 Special -- no use for this cartridge

.44 Magnum -- no use for this cartridge

.45 acp -- my current carry gun is a Kimber Custom Classic, MKI

.45 Colt -- Colt New Service (runner up, Ruger Blackhawk)

.22 Colt Frontier Scout
380 Bersa Thunder Plus
9x19 CZ 75B
.357 mag. Colt King Cobra
.44 mag. TC Contender W/15 inch scoped Bullberry barrel
and the never to be shot .45 acp Colt 1911 Pacific Theater

.22lr- colt huntsman
380acp- tcp
9mm -cm9
38sp- Taurus model 85ss
357mag - DW 15-2
40sw - tp40
44mag - DW 44
45 ria 1911 5" tac . tomorrow glock 41
