Had the H&K P7 series been anything friendly to me ergonomically.
I would have probably bought one many years ago and stuck to the
old addage that the P7 is a cruel mistress and that you should probably
Only carry an automatic with similiar manual of arms.

This meaning that i would own one P7 (to start with)and never deviating from the P7 series..probably buy a a Revolver of some sort. A S&W .44 magnum or Ruger redhawk for Hunting and animal protection.

Having always liked the Squeeze Cockers for looks and teutonic engineering..
they just don't point well for me..thus the SIGs and CZs seem the best.

My question being: Does anyone here own ONE AUTO and ONE REVOLVER..
thinking them the best of the design and really see no reason to own anymore
handguns other than say a P7, Glock, CZ or a K frame or security six, ect?

Again, I have probably overlooked the P7 and missed out on the handgun
of the century, but if a gun doesn't fit me right..it is really no use to me..
the same can be said of other makes/models. Guess I am just picky:)

1911 and K frames

I have a 1911 frankengun Sistema frame and blank slide, and 2 K frames 3" 13 and 4" pencil barrel 65 both in 357.
They are what gets shot the most around my house.

S&W J frames
642 and 60-4

S&W K frames
13 and 65

1911
frank the bare Sistema

Ruger Super Blackhawk Bisley Hunter in 45 Colt, but this will ba mostly for hunting.

22lr
S&W 35 J frame 6" barrel
Colt Woodsman 6" barrel

My daughter stole my Glock 19 and I have a Ruger MKII Slabside that I am selling.

Money is a little tight, I had bought or shot a bunch of others and I have setled on these. I would like to get a wondernine either a BHP, G17 or a 5913 just for cheap blastin'

Yes, if I could have only two they would be a 1911-frame .45 and a .357mag K-frame.

Luckily, I'm not limited to two, so I have a Springfield Armory 1911a1, a Colt 1991a1, a Smith & Wesson model 19-5, a Dan Wesson 15 with 3 barrels, a S&W model 36, a Sig P226, a Ruger 22/45 and an Iver Johnson Target Sealed 8. Got a few long guns mixed in as well... Of course you asked if anyone owned only two and didn't see a need for any more. How silly, there's always a need for more!

I'm right there with Sport .45. (If I could only have two: a 1911 and a "K") As it is, I've 'consolidated down to "J" and "K" frame revos and 1911 .45 autos. (I just haven't consolidated down to only two ;) )

Thank god I am not forced to own only one auto and one revolver but if I were in that situation they would be:

Browning High Power in 9mm
Ruger GP 100 in .357 mag

The only two handguns I own are a Sig p229 .40 and a S&W 686 with the 2.5" barrell. While I do feel that these two are about as close to perfection as you can get, I think I would rather have the 4" bbl in the 686 for general purposes.

I am completely addicted to firearms of all varieties though, so I am always looking for something new, and have an extremely long "short list." Paying for flight lessons though leaves me without much gun cash though.

Whew! Tough call. I have many favorites, but I have to look at effectiveness and portability.

1) Sig Sauer P245 (45acp)
2) S&W 686 4" bl (357 mag)

If limited to one of each it'd be:

SIG P226 X-Five 9mm
S&W M640 .357mag/.38 Special (with an action job, ect... done by S&W's PC)

If we are talking centerfire, then that exactly describes my situation until just recently.

I have owned a number of autoloaders (1911, BHP, etc.), but have sold or traded them all except for my SIG P228. It is the perfect pistol for me in terms of feel in the hand, ease of use, accuracy, etc.

My one revolver has been a 2.25" Ruger SP101, for which I sold a 4" S&W 686-4. Again, perfect size and fit, and ease of use.

I recently acquired a 4" S&W 586, and am pleased to have such a revolver again, but if pressed to keep only one I would choose the SP101 for its versatility (it is my main carry gun).

Companions

Any one of my S&W K or L 3" revolvers in .357, and my CZ 75B Compact. The CZ trigger is a perfect companion for a revolver nut.

If I were restricted to .22's, it would be a 4" Smith 17 or 617 full lug and my CZ Kadet, for the same companionability.

Of course my "reason" is utter bs - I just love shooting and carrying these particular guns.

Thankfully I have the right and ability to own all the pistols I choose to stuff into my safes.
If I was limited to just one of each I would choose,,,,

Smith and Wesson Model 41 .22LR semi auto with both 7.5" and 5" heavy barrel assemblies.

Smith and Wesson 629 .44 Magnum revolver, either a 5" Classic or a 4" Mountain Revolver.

In my opinion, these two pistols will cover all your shooting needs from defense to hunting to pleasure shooting.

One would have to learn to reload for the .44 to extract the greatest versatility but that wouldn't be hard.

Thank goodness I don't have to make this choice in real life.

Glock 17 and Ruger Blackhawk.
Add a Mossberg 590 to the Glock and a 20" 12 gauge SxS to the Ruger, and you're set to go.

In my dreams, a pre-war Colt National Match 1911 and a S&W Registered Magnum.

In reality, my Yost Caspian and... a revolver to be determined. :D

Had one auto and one revolver for quite some time.
The revolver was a .41 magnum ruger blackhawk.
Auto was a H&K USP compact in .45
I got a lot more guns now, but really those two were really all that I needed.

I"m glad to not be faced with such a decision. Maybe for a different reason tho. An auto doesn't make my short list. Or my medium list. Barely makes a long list. still think of selling the one I do own.

My question being: Does anyone here own ONE AUTO and ONE REVOLVER..

What? :D

If I were limited to one of each it would be:

Colt Combat Commander .45acp or HK USPC .45acp or Ruger P97DC
Charter Ams Bulldog 3" .44Spl or Ruger SP101 .357mag or Colt DS .38Spl+P

Oh well I tried really I did!

I send more .45acp down range than any other caliber but prefer Revolvers for CCW!
