I got the bores cleaned up and fitted the barrels to the tang. Now the tang and barrel and setting up in JB weld until the morning. Also fit the nose cap and trigger guard to the stock. Just had to drill holes for them is all, but its slowly coming tomorrow. Now if some darn parts would arrive!

Also came with the original box and the warranty/how to build, manual.

She came with a combo barrel kit, 50cal & 54cal with 1:66 slow twist barrels! Going to be a gorgeous shooter without a doubt.

These are fun projects. Did a CVA Kentucky back in the '70's and a Kentucky pistol later on. Have a Squirrel Rifle in the shop that I started on a long time ago, had some issues with the double set trigger and never got back to it. Still on my to do list after I get the T-Bird running and get my reloading bench set up and running. Too many toys, not enough time.

Why JB Weld instead of Acraglas?

The only time I've used JB Weld was to glue a small piece of sheet brass onto an aluminium triggerguard.

Thanks! Never looked at it from that perspective. I wonder if JB Weld can be dyed like Acraglass?

I started inletting a Mauser 98 action yesterday. Oh, how modern (yes I am a poor sinner).

yes walmart has the stuff that takes 6 to 8 hours to set up. I found that out the hard way when I broke one rifle look after 2 hours and ended up having to scrape it off and rebrown the barrel on my other Hawken.

Looks like it's coming along nicely. I put this Traditions .50 caliber Hawken together many years ago as my winter project gun. The only tricky part was fitting the brass butt plate to the stock as shape and dimensions of the butt plate were way off from where it needed to be for a proper fit.
