I have very little need for this rifle.

I have very little need for this caliber.

And tomorrow at noon it will be mine!

I just swung a trade deal for a Ruger No. 1 Tropical in 375 H&H Magnum! Its lightly used(18 rounds down the pipe). Thankfully, tomorrow is also payday, because the dies, brass, and bullets are a bit steep!

Next on the rifle grail list is a Benelli R-1!

Deer will be the primary game for this. I think I can reload the Speer 235's to a decent level. I also can't wait for the look on my prairie dog buddies ' faces when I uncase it! As for recoil, it seems its more of a push than a sharp shove. It can't possibly be any more stout than a 45-70 with Buffalo Bore loads, or my 454 casull with full roundhouse loading.

Nice! I too have little need, or even use, for a 375 H&H. However, I've always wanted one and eventually will pick one up. I will then probably find some use or justification for it. I'm not after a Ruger No. 1, but differences in taste keeps life fun.

Exactly. My Kimber Talkeetna in .375 H&H Mag is fairly light at around 8lb but it's a joy to shoot, even off a bench for load development.

Hmmm....SOME folks (Philistines!) fail to feel the appeal of the #1 Rifle. Too bad they don't know what they're missing.

Presently, I own two #1s, one a newish .303 British and the other a #1H in .416 Rigby. The .416 is approaching 2000 rounds fired,( NO factory loads) and it is an impeccable, reliable, ACCURATE rifle. It will place TEN 365-grain cast bullets in an inch at 100, if I do my part. This load travels at 2050 fps, and feels like a warmed-up .45-70.

The rifle has driven a 300-grain X-bullet at 3000 fps, and that cast bullet at 2600..... the power is there, if you want to step on the pedal a bit harder.

Your .375 is one that I've considered, but with the .416 on hand it makes laying-out the money a little difficult. I do like the .375 cartridge, though. If only I had a gunbearer willing to work for peanuts, then maybe....

I have a #1 in 45-70. Really FUN gun and a real game thumper (deer, hogs-so far). It goes all the way (with reloading) from: BOOM:----------THUD to BOOM/WHACK/OUCH depending on your mood for the day. VERY versatile.

I'd LOVE to get to try it out on BIG game some time.
