About 7 years ago, I saw a Browning BAR Mk I semi auto hunting rifle that had a synthetic one piece stock. It was a large stock, make no mistake. It fit around the side of the receiver and was slotted for the charging handle. The bottom of the stock was open for the magazine port, as well.

I asked the owner who made the stock, and he had just bought it at a gun show in Tallahassee FL- mind you I saw it in Western NC as the owner was a snowbird.

The stock was a synthetic stock, and it looked made to fit the BAR, it did not look like a one off or a custom item, although I had thought for a long time that it must surely be a custom.

Three days ago, I went to the Uchee Firing Range in Tuskeegee, AL. A local man had a BAR MK-I with a wooden one piece stock. I know him, so when I begged him to take it down to see if I could find a manufacturer's stamp or mark, he was actually willing, as he'd bought it a year ago and never fired it as he was afraid of taking it down to clean it.

It had the same style cutout for the magazine and the charging handle but it was a wood stock. It also came around and covered the sides of the receiver that are left as exposed, blued metal on the factory BAR's- just like the synthetic stock I saw.

Mr. Rice had bought this one with the wood stock at the spring gun show in Montgomery last year, and he didn't know if he had the receipt.

I know that the 5 round magazines on the BAR are hunting specific, which is what the BAR semi auto was meant to do. But, I love my BAR and I'd love to have a higher capacity magazine just for target and plinking.

If anyone knows who made or still makes a one piece stock for a BAR Hunting Rifle, I'd appreciate knowing. Also, I'd appreciate any leads on magazines if anyone knows about any higher capacity magazines for a Browning BAR Hunting Rifle(no the 20 round magazines from the WW2 guns wouldn't work in a million years). I stocked up on 5 rounders when they went on clearance at CDNN earlier this year.
