One rifle?

Apparently I need to look into 7-08 myself. I like to keep things interchangeable...7-08 sounds like a nice compliment to my 7-30 waters....but the next on my list is .257 Weatherby to compliment my .256 winmag.

Cartridges that fit into the slot from .243 up to .308 are plentiful. Sticking to the basics though I'm all over the 7.62x54R that is so plentiful and cheap. The more I think about this the more certain I get that I would be looking at that cartridge in a bolt rifle. Thankfully those are common too.

Your best bet would be a .270win. Another possibility is the 7mm-o8. The cartridges will be a little more. Look up federal ammo and check the ballistics on both of these rifles using same bullet and weight. You will get the message.
