No, this is not spam. I feel strongly that I should share this with everyone. Craigslist is a great website, but any reference to a firearm will get your post deleted faster than your spouse can slap you for buying another gun. The concept is great though, buying items locally from people face to face, and at yard sale prices.
The newspapers here in Norfolk VA won't list firearms in the classifieds anymore, and the only way to find what you're looking for is to buy the Tidewater Trader Paper every Tuesday. That's all great, but by 4pm all the good deals are gone, you spend a $1.50 a week for nothing, and the selection isn't that great to begin with, plus who knows when that will be considered a "gun show loophole".
Well, I finally found the resolution. www.gunlistings.org, They are setup just like Craigslist but for firearms and accessories, and totally free. There is one problem though, I think they are a new site and don't have many listings now. But man! the concept is just what I've been looking for, and I doubt I'm alone. So check it out and start listing your guns locally for free. I'd like to see this thing take off before it shuts down due to lack of interest. Thanks guys, and feel free to share the info!

This looks cool. We have the same problem here in Denver, CO as far as selling firearms.

Hmmm. Guess we could put up listing on craigslist for this web site.

Wow. I'm impressed. For my state it says,

Handguns (0 listings)
Rifles (0 listings)
Shotguns (0 listings)
Antiques (0 listings)
Accessories (0 listings)

I'm gonna save some big bucks on this one.

What problem is that? Private transactions are uninhibited, so long as it's not done on the grounds of a gun show. And "closing" the "gun show loophole" was a feel-good measure anyway. It's not like you can't make arrangements to meet up and make the transaction later. I have done just that, though it was only because I didn't have the cash until a week later; Cost me more to drive to Loveland than the $10 BG check fee. But I really wanted that LNIB S&W 1006.

Unless you're referring to our mainstream papers not listing firearms in the classifieds. They did until 2003, don't know what sparked the change.

The local puppy housebreaking trainer (Arizona Republic, www.azcentral.com ) allows firearm advertising, but said advertising is a bit pricey.

Craigslist recently flagged and removed my ad for a reloading press.:mad: But the case tumbler sold within two days.

let's see...

selling fire arm face to face to a resident of your state.......LEGAL

prostitution........ILEGAL (in most states)

Graig's list provides a huge forum for free marketing to illegal activities, as there are dozens of adds for "full service, $250" that appear to run with out hinderance.

Yet try to list a firearm for sale legally and you get shut down.

Which is proof positive (once again) that liblerals are all about....

Forcing their "bent" perspecitve off on others (through media and judicial manipulation) and surpressing the opinions of those who disagree with them.

I say Rot to them.....

Well, there are 0 classifieds listed on that site for New York.

It may be pretty empty, but it's still one more pro-gun source for free classifieds though and I for one would like to see it succeed. So, I'm going to do may part and list a couple of my guns there. Do I expect anyone to really see it, and have it work for me ? No.. not really, but it's a start , right ?

On Line Guns

Craigslist took awhile to catch on also. What we have to do is get the word out, and see if WE support ourselves, or whine about the MSM not having classifieds,or the libs deleating our Craigslist items.Let's "Getter Done" guys.

My AR-15 is on there for Virginia, I'd like to see this website blow up with listings. I'm trying to get the word out which is why I posted here. I need you guys to be proactive too. If you belong to other sites, drop in a link and let's get this thing going!

This is a fine idea.I'll try to find a few friends or relatives that have a firearm they want to sell and list it there.I have nothing at the moment but perhaps shortly.
Hopefully the site will take off and become another useful resource.
Thanks for letting us know.

Keep in mind that Craig of Craigslist is your typical San Fransisco liberal.

Here in Colorado we have Colorado Gun Market (if you're a RMGO member you can post free ads).

However if this catches on, it could be real cool.

Thats what I am referring to. Right now there is very little in the way of online places to buy and sell stuff here. Colorado Gun Market is the biggest and it's not very big.

I do check it out now and then, but it's small and has little traffic. I think something like gunlistings.org has the potential to become a clearing house of sorts. The bigger it gets, the easer it will be for someone to find.

Looks like Craigslist should have just gone ahead and let guns be sold since their policy didn't prevent a lawsuit. I'd bet that the victim is suing CL because the shooter has no assets.

MAN SHOT BY 'CRAIGSLIST' GUN TAKES AIM AT SITE

By JENNIFER FERMINO and PHILIP MESSING

A Manhattan boutique owner is suing craigslist.com for $10 million, claiming he was shot with a gun purchased on the popular Web site.

Calvin Gibson, 50, who was shot six times by his schizophrenic neighbor in the East Village on July 24, believes the classified site is partially responsible.

"But for defendant's negligence in failing to supervise and monitor the content of the ads placed on its Internet service, [the shooter] could never have legally obtained the handgun," according to the lawsuit filed yesterday in Manhattan federal court.

The alleged gunman, Jesus Ortiz, who is being held without bail, "has a psychiatric history and a history of violent crime," Gibson claims in the suit, and could never have qualified for a gun permit.

"New York has an extremely stringent gun law," the suit says.

He claims Ortiz told the cops that he bought the gun on craigslist, and that the suspect's mother told others the same story.

Gibson was shot after he stopped at a deli on East Seventh Street near Avenue D. A teen, Mohammed Islam, 18, was also wounded in the random attack.

NYPD officials could not confirm the suit's claim. A craigslist spokesman could not be reached.

Look, bottom line, criminals will always have access to firearms whether they plead insane or not. I don't care how inaccessible you try to make them, they will always be around an in abundance. Firearms are buried in our heritage and a part of American tradition, it's something handed from generation to generation. Well, unless Obama gets elected. Then we'll all probably have to turn our guns, at least the registered ones.

Anyway.......where was I? Oh, yeah It doesn't matter how far anyone goes to make buying a weapon a pain in the ass, all they do is drive the price of guns up. www.gunlistings.org is a law abiding website who takes no responsibility for purchases through their site. I would think if you wanted to cut down on criminals owning fireams, the ATF would have a hotline for personal sellers to call and check out buyers before the sale. What do I know?

I don't want to stray the posting into another subject. www.gunlistings.org is an awesome idea and I want to stay focused on trying to get people using it. I sent the NRA an email asking them to write an article on the first nationwide website for citizens to buy and sell firearms and accessories at no charge. I'll probably never hear anything, but hey, I tried.

And the plaintiff will lose, since CL's TOU agreement specifically outlines that CL is not responsible for the content of ads

http://www.craigslist.org/about/terms.of.use

I have used and will continue to use this powerful marketing tool that is free for both the seller and the buyer, until something better comes along.

And they won't post firearm ads, but you can state in an ad that you are willing to trade for firearms. That's exactly how I got my Jeep XJ; guy had written "will consider trades for motorcycles or firearms".

Thanks for the heads up NavyGuy I just listed an AR15 on that site. I think it's great that there's another FREEdom website for us to post weapons on. SCREW the DUMACRATS!! :neener:

I wonder if they mind if established FFLs use it to drive traffic to their stores. That's the way to get thousands of listing in a hurry.

That would be great if this site actually takes off.

Awesome point

Not a single listing for any Northeast State.
Are you a CT resident with a FNH FS2000 collecting dust?
C'mon, list it!
