I have a small business in a 5 story office building. I am in TX. To my surprise, I came to the building and saw the big glaring 30.07 signs, prohibiting Open Carry in the building.
I asked the building manager what was the big idea, he responded, "tenant demand". I am guessing one or two piddly a$$ tenants saw something on the news and ran with it. Heck, it could have been a big tenant, but one does not measure big by the number of employees, but buy the dollar amount of the lease one carries.
I've been open carrying in my place of business (small office w/in the building) for quite some time. If I leave the door open and you walk in, you probably will see whatever firearm I have at the time (handgun, shotgun, AR).
I guess my questions are:
1. Can the landlord get away with this? Are there any groups that can fight this?
2. Where do my rights begin/end? Should I not be open carrying/carrying at all in my office?
Another concern would be, since the Open Carry law came to TX, I've seen establishments put up both a 30.06 (no concealed carry) and a 30.07 (no open carry) even though they've never had a 30.06 sign up before.
Kinda mad about this. Seems like my rights were taken away some kind of way because of a small group of ignorant people.
Thanks,
MC
