I am looking at a Browning Citori over / under shotgun. Would appreciate any input as to value as well as your experience with this model or Citori shotguns in general.

Details:

The shotgun is a Browning Citori, Skeet model, made in Japan in the early to mid 90's.

Has 28 inch barrels with various screw in chokes. Barrels are ported. Takes 2 3/4 shells only.

Approx 98% condition...actually perfect condition except for a very small nick in the beavertail fore-end. Otherwise, the wood looks great.

With the beavertail fore-end it feels a lot like my Browning BT-99, so thought it would be beneficial due to similarity in the "feel" of each gun.

This gun has seen little use and has been taken care of.

The owner will sell it for $800.

What do you think? Good value? Is this a decent shotgun for skeet?
I appreciate any input you can give me. Thanks!

Sounds like a good buy for a Browning. This was made in the era of cheap steel, nothing wrong with the strength of the steel, but we used to joke about Brownings "on a quiet night you can hear them rust". Just make sure if you buy it that it gets oiled and wiped down after you handle it EVERY TIME. A good buddy had, still has a citori of this vintage and over night if it was not wiped down after handling it would show fingerprints in the steel as rust. It wasn't just him as other people have said the same. Still an excellent gun for the price.

Not trying to turn you off on it just relating my experiences. :)

The price sounds good for a shotgun in this condition. Brownings are solid and reliable. Check the chokes to determine whether they are Invector or Invector Plus. The Plus series mean the gun was backbored and the chokes are a little longer. If you want to acquire extended or replacement chokes finding the Invector Plus. I would not however turn down a gun because of the chokes if it fits you and handles well in your hands.

That sounds like an excellent buy. The Citori Skeet works well for partridge, pheasant and rabbits , as well.

Thanks guys...

Well thanks guys for your input. You pretty much convinced me of the worth of this shotgun....so I went and picked it up this evening.

A beautiful gun...can't wait to go shoot it. Got to work Saturday but hopefully can get to the range on Sunday to shoot some clays. Boys and their toys.

Thanks again for the input...you guys were very helpful.
