Simple question . . . and I would like to gather opinions . . .

Lets say I am so inclined to purchase S&W revolver chambered in 10MM.

Lets say I am so inclined as to put nothing but double tap through it all day long. (not really all day everyday but often enough). Am I looking at trouble down the road? Say in 6 months . . . a year . . . 2 years? Am I shortening the life of my revolver? Am I increasing my risk for a catastrophic event (AKA KB!).

Or . . . will my revolver stand up to the beating pretty well all things considered.

What does the Highroad think?

i think you are setting yourself up for major arthritis down the road

:)

Funny you should say . . .

A little weight on your revolver goes a long way.

I doubt a 10mm wheelgun would show any more wear and tear than a 41mag wheelgun with the same number of rounds put through it.

My bet is that you'll wear out before the gun does.

10mm is expensive. If you can afford to put so much ammo through it that you can wear it out, buying a new gun when it does finally wear out will be but a drop in the bucket.

The 610 is built on the same frame as the .44mag 629, I doubt the 10mm will harm it.

You'll probably run out of money before you wear out your gun.

The 610 was built for DoubleTap ammo, recoil can't possibly be worse than my Glock G20 firing McNetts 180 grn 10mm- 1350 FPS and 728 FPE, that ammo gets a little tiresome in the light weight Glock after 50 rounds

From Starline -

10MM Magnum is a heavy duty, lengthened 10MM Auto. O.A.L. of 1.250 CANNOT BE USED IN STANDARD 10MM PISTOL

Below is from -

http://www.ammo-one.com/10mmMagnum.html

The 10mm (AMT) Magnum was introduced in 1992 as a "Proprietary" Cartridge for the AMT;
(Arcadia Machine &Tool Inc.)
later bought by IAI
(Irwindale Arms Incorporated)
and now owned by the High
Standard Manufacturing Company.
The 10 mm Mag was used in
the now obsolete AMT (IAI)
Automag IV pistol.
Basically the 10mm Auto Mag
is a lengthened 10 mm Auto,
with a lot more energy.
To my knowledge, no company is producing this cartridge for resale, and the owners of the pistol have to load their own ammunition.

Well.. let' see...

I wore out 500 pieces of 10 mm brass before I had a trigger job done on it..

It took me about 5 years to wear out this brass. I probably loaded it about 10-15 times.. Always with full power 10 mm ammo and 180 gr bullets. I now shoot exclusively light ammo by comparison and I figure the gun has about 100,000 rounds through it. This is a 610-2. The cylinder, lockup and everything is normal and it is still very accurate. I don't think you will damage it unless you really push it. The moden N frame guns are built a lot better than the ones they used to shoot apart on the sillouette ranges.. but at that time they didn't have the modern propellants we use now and they really used to push the pressures.. I wouldn't worry about it.

Funny you should ask this.
Before I got stupid and sold my 610 all I fed it was DoubleTap and my own hot handloads and the 610 took it without a problem. Like everyone else my thinking was that this is a 44magnum frame so 10mm shouldn't worry the N frame at all.
