Opinions about Wolf 9MM Ammo

As has been stated time and again, Wolf is reliable. Wolf is dirty. But the one thing I must say is that I cannot remember ever thinking that Wolf 9mm was stinky...I do know that some Sellier and Belloit was rather foul smelling, but only in the 9mm. My Beretta 92 loves the stuff when its in the hands of my gal. Hell, she can keep the entire 15 round mag inside the X ring at 15 yards with an occasional "flyer" in the 9 ring...I let her keep the pistol at her condo for defensive purposes as she only has a Rossi/Taurus 38 special...that is the one that I LOVE...but that is another story. :)

Wolf good...until you have to clean pistol...then Wolf bad.

To make things easier, take off any and all plastic things that might not like hard-core cleaner, and get after it with some CRC brake cleaner and a good plastic bristle brush. :)

never had a problem with it. The ammo itself is dirty. When you handle the rounds you will have a black/gray powder on your hands. It is accurate enough for plinking and informal practice. Fine for practice.

Wolf Ammo?

The rim thickness on the steel cases can vary, which causes strain on the extractor claw. I broke an extractor on a Sig 226 about the same time I finished a 1000 round case of Wolf ammo. I've seen other people break extractors in pistols shooting Wolf ammo, and I won't use it in a handgun anymore.

However, an SKS or AK-47 is made to eat steel cased ammo, and I've had good luck shooting Wolf ammo through my Chinese AK.

For the third or fourth time I will have stated this:

Concerned about Wolf and extractor wear after reading rumors of it on the internet, I used some calipers to measure the extractor on a hi-power through which I'd shot lots of Wolf and then measured the dimensions of a hardened C&S extractor that I'd bought to replace it (over a regular FN/Browning extractor). I could find no significant dimensional difference and I found no difference after many thousands MORE rounds of Wolf. Same with an AR-15 through which lots of Wolf has gone.

I no longer worry about it.

I've gone through almost 3000 rounds of Wolf 9mm in my Glock.
I have NEVER had a single problem.
I have no idea what people are talking about with the smell. No problem here.
As far as it being dirty....shouldn't you clean your gun after each use anyway? lol

Buy it, use it, save money!

My range advises you not use wolf ammo. My favorite chioce of ammo is CCI its the cleanest and fairly accurate. I have shot hundreds through my bolt action and after running a patch through it was startled to find how clean and little residue there was from the ammunition. Every once in awhile thiers a sale on Federal ammunition which is great stuff. I love federals hollow point ammunition. I guess with wolf use it at your own risk but were I shooting an AK i guess id fire it.
