I am a WOA supporter, and have a Service Rifle Pre-Ban on order. 1/4 Min sights pinned 20" CMP upper.
Recently I have discovered the http://palmettostatearmory.com/8974.php dissipator with MOE hand guards. I have always had a soft spot for this upper. My issue is that the PSA doesn't have a free float tube. Now my Colt HBAR I competed with didn't either, and it shot with great accuracy.
I have an Aero complete lower sitting here, and I am really debating getting the HF mid-length gas system for it. The WOA is still coming also, but I wanted to get opinions on the 16" HF FN barrel without a free float tube. This gun will not be a target rifle. Most likely it will be a yote and pest gun used on a friends father's land. I want it because it is is shorter, and will shoot one of my favorite bullets. Which happens to be the Sierra 69 SMK.
I should be able to add a FF tube later to the MOE hand guards correct? The accuracy of the PSA 16" Dissy should be within MOA shouldn't it?
Another issue/option/choice I have is that I have a very accurate VZ 2008, and despite what other have said or had issues with CIA, I have not. It seems that for about $200-$300 I could jazz up the VZ to have a red dot and a rail system, and use that rifle for the woods to do my pest control with. Shots are not going to be over 75 yards as we will be calling in the woods, and not in the pasture.
For $519.00 from PSA that is a nice looking upper, and I have searched, but not found one bad review. I am sure there are some, but I haven't seen them yet.
Would you drop the cash on the dissipator, or would you jazz up the VZ 2008 to be a quicker functioning rifle that will shoot Wolf MC 124 HP on the cheap?
Keep in mind that the WOA is going to be a pure Service Rifle Match gun. I will not be hunting with this rifle. Yes, I have 30-30s with handloads of 125 grain HPs, .22 LR and .22 Magnums, and a few shotguns that will do the trick.
You know how it is. Us gun owners gotta have another.
Thanks for you conversation.
