opinions on magpul pmags

When I get my Pmags, I will have to give this a try. But, I really do not see why 204 Ruger would not feed from a Pmag if it feeds from a standard mag.

Supposedly it is their follower, so possibly a metal mag with a Magpul follower won't run .204 reliably either.

I use a mix of PMAGS and GI, I like the PMAGs alot and they wear better in my opinion. That a I own them 2 to 1 more than the GI mags. Never. ever had issue with them

I have a bunch of the Pmags, and they work great in the guns they fit.

I have two Armalites that will not take them. They are all either very tight to insert, or wont go into the mag at all. These same guns have no issues with the GI and Colt mags Ive used all along until I got the Pmags.

I think I have a couple Magpul followers installed in conventional magazines. I will have to check that out as well.

mlj, there was an article about it a couple weeks ago, followed a couple days later by a decision to unban them

The pmag "ban" was lifted by the army about two weeks after it was announced. Essentially, that said they make decisions about what they can or cannot issue, not some outside agency.

I personally prefer the lancer AWM mags, because of the metal feed lips. The only problem is you have to paint the magazine spring yourself, unlike the maglevel P-mags that have it marked already (so you can visually tell how many rounds are left when the rounds are all up above the edge of the magwell).

That said, I still have at least a dozen Pmags, and they've always been reliable.

I use P Mags and haven't had any problems with them, but I still keep a good stash of NHMTG mags as I still am skeptical of how plastic may hold up decades from now - should standard cap mags become unavailable again.

I migh seem goofy but in addition to the reasons above i like pmags becuase tey are more pleasant to handle than metal ones. I seemto be able to cut myself on metal mags more easilly and they clank and make noise when carried together. I keep a big pile of mags in a canvas mechanics bag and the pmags are quieter

I have an Armalite lower on my frankengun and all I use is Pmags. They drop free just fine too. I am thinking of "stockpiling" some of those metal mags from Bravo Company though

I've got a BM, and an A-1 and both love the Magpul mags. In fact I've got the 20 round as well as the 30 round. It has allways been my notion for a decent mag to be able to fall from the mag well of any semi-auto weapon freely.

I have a couple 30 round Pmags that I'm happy with. I bought them on the recommendation of several frinds/family members I talked to. When I told them I was buying an AR, they all said "buy Pmags." I like them fine, but generally use standard steel mags just because that's what ended up in my range bag.

I will say I wish I would have ordered 20 rounders. If somebody is interested in trading 20 rounders for my 30 rounders, PM me. I prefer the shorter mag and 20 rounds is ok with me.

I'll never own another one. I have to admit that I was bitten by the Magpul monster but have finally come to my senses. I've seen them fail on others and have had them fail on me in many occasions. Yes they feed great but so do my USGI's with upgraded followers.

the biggest issue i've had is that the little tab that is supposed to engage the mag catch is prone to breaking under heavy use and causing the mag to becoming stuck in the weapon when doing a mag change on and open bolt. the mag gets to high in the mag well causing the rifle to malfunction. not a problem if out are at the range because you can just rip the mag out, however downrange you get the pucker factor pretty quick and that's a bad place to find a flaw in a mag.

i've brought up the issue with magpul and they are glad to swap the bodies out which is great if i'm stateside, however if i'm downrange and have an issue that puts me in a bad place.
