Opinions on movie: LORD OF WAR

Found it very politically neutral, actually. It showed (with Hollywood flair) simply a summary of what is: there's good, there's bad, and it's all not going away 'cuz if you don't someone else will (with some making sure someone will).

I found the outtakes rather "anti" (drunk SOB firing full-auto in air at wedding in NYC, etc.); while the director's personal views may be "anti", he was good enough to cut such from the final edit, making it more a Rorschach test than propaganda.

Overall I liked the movie but it did have a very strong anti-gun and violence message. One could say that it is the main message is anti-illegal arms shipping by governments and gun dealers. I don't believe civilian ownership of firearms is really addressed in the movie. In the ending a nameless US military officer says to Cage's character after he wins his court case, that the US Government needs him to sell weapons to support third world dictators and insurgents. Cages character during the later part the movie is working for the US Government, as an illegal arm dealer.

Wasn't anti gun as such. More like, Anti Hypocrisy.
Not a word was said in the final scene that wasn't true.
The true impotence of the UN was accurately portrayed. :)

I absolutely loved the climax... the whole- "A man will walk through that door..."

Sad that everyone deserted Yuri Orlov in the end except the US Gov't. IMHO, I found out one of my friends was a guy like Yuri, I wouldn't turn my back on him, I'd be like, "Neat, let's go shoot some full autos..."

Andre Baptiste Jr.: Can you bring me the gun of Rambo?
Yuri Orlov: Part One, Two, or Three?
Andre Baptiste Jr.: I've only seen Part One.
