I was just looking for some input on the Walther P22. Good? Bad? Basically I'm just looking for a good .22 pistol for plinking, targets, etc. I'm open to other suggestions as well. I have fired a Ruger Mark II and a Buckmark before and liked them, I'm just looking for something a little different. Thanks for any help :D

I have one that I purchased for my 12 year old son. We have over 800 rds thru it and it has been a good pistol.

Now I just need to get a silentser for it. :D

The threaded barrel for the supressor is another thing I liked about it  I could just buy the integrally suppressed Mark II they have at one of the local dealers, but at $700 plus the $200 transfer fee that makes for one expensive .22 lol

I have the 3.4†barrel version and have been utterly pleased with its performance and accuracy. I bought it used, so can't say how many rounds have been thru it, but the (Wal-Mart) Federal bulk-packs run just fine in it.

It's a good plinker, and informal target gun, and I liked the first one so much that I bought a second. The first, lately loaded with CCI Velocitor ammo, accompanies me while mowing my place, and this pistol/ammo combo has dispatched a skunk that thought it could take up residence in my tractor shed, and has quite a few turtles and two snakes to its credit as well.

Good little guns, IMO.

The 3.4" is the version I am looking at, I can't see spending ~$100 more for the 5" with the compensator or whatever they want to call it. (Plus that version doesn't have a threaded barrel  ) I hear the barrels are easy to swap out anyway

Go for it!

I have the p22 with both barrels- I love the thing. Great plinker, target shooter, etc. I carry it sometimes (not speeches, please) as it's so light. I'm comfortable with it. Yeah, I know, it's only a .22, but I figure that stinger hollowpoints have a bit of stopping power!

Mine was VERY picky with ammo- finally decided that it like remington target grade. That's ALL it will shoot (except for my carry bullets). Took a bit to find what she liked, no problems since.

Given the choice, I'd go with the 3.5. I bought mine with the longer one, and bought the shorter one later. I use it mostly with the shorter one. I can change (if I want to) in under 2 minutes. Peice of cake!!!

Great gun- can't say enough about it!

Reports vary it seems but my 5" has ran fine after an initial 200 round break in. It feeds Winchester bulk pack fine but hates Remington bulk packs. 5" is also a pain to clean if you like to field strip it. To take the slide off you have to unscrew 3 hex screws and then pull the fake compensator off. After that it's just as easy as it's big brother.

My wife and I both love hers.Shoot and clean a few times and life is good.Rem bulk works fine and is cheap

I've been happy with mine, once I figured out a proper diet - it only seems to run well on high velocity stuff.

Try the search function, the P22 has been discussed at length.

i was thinking of getting one of these little guys but with word of sig putting out a new .22 i think i will wait and see.

MSRP is is supposed to be $399 i do believe so in reality that shouldn't put it much over the p22. best price i have seen is around $300 for the p22 $320 for the two tone.

"Anyone know where I can get some info about SIG's new .22? Thanks."

One specimen was in my hand in IWA-2004 exhibition.

The gun is a cheap plinker, similar toygun, as the Umarex P22.

The frame is made of plastic (hard and easy broken), the slide and most metal parts are made of zinc alloy pot metal (such as the P22). There is mag safety, and a non-decocking safety on the slide.

The frame decocker is operable, this the only good thing. The mag is 10-rounder.

Except its appearance there is nothing common with the real SIG Sauer pistols.

gvass:
Thanks. It might not be on a par with my P228, but I love toygun .22's. My P22 is a fun little pistol.

Now, if I can only find some pics, and hoping it looks like SIG's classic line...

..Joe

EDIT: Found on Sauer's site, the above pic, only larger...
