Promag is not known for quality although i have no firsthand experience with their sights. (i do have experience with their mags and i can honestly say i will never buy them again)
That being said, for almost the same amount of money, you can pick up a Magpul rear-BUIS and they are known for quality

Cheaper then Dirt can go pack sand as far as I'm concerned.
I wouldn't buy a cup of coffee from them if it was .05 cents.

They were leading the charge in ammo Price Gouging during the post-Obama shortages last year.

I've never seen one in person, but that sight looks poorly built in the pics.

I'd either get the Magpul or look for a used higher quality one.
If you look here or on ar-15.com you may find some higher end ones selling for almost half the cost of a new one.

I wouldn't buy pro mag anything. I have no experience with their sights but they are not a company know to make quality products. Why role the dice. I'm with everyone else in saying that the Magpul MBUS are a better choice. I've been satisfied with every magpul product I've purchased.

If you ever plan to put a scope on it... the Gen II Magpul MBUS are a little lower profile than the original ones are. I have the originals on my rifle... they're nice... and solid, and look nice too.

Whew! Thanks for the heads up! I'm checking out the Magpul MBUS now. Those of you that have one, does it stay locked in the upright position and hold its windage setting tight?

It "locks" in the down/flap position and upon "release", is held "up" with a fairly substantial spring. Mine have been just fine.

Somewhat related question--for my newest build, I'm going with a flat-top upper that has an F-marked front sight tower. Obviously, I'm going to need a back-up rear sight, preferably a flip-up this time--I'm currently using the LMT fixed rear on my present rifle, which is nice, except for the fact that I'm using it with a non-F-marked FSB and the rear sight is bottomed out.

The two main requirements are compatibility and durability. The three I've been looking at are the MagPul, the KAC "diopter-on-a-stick," and Troy. What would THR recommend?

UTG makes potmetal parts for air soft guns.

I'm sure they do, but they also make sights for the AR. Mine stick to a magnet, the pot metal slide of my Air Soft gas blow P13 analog doesn't.

I've had the UTG flip up rear in actual use for well over a year and its worked great behind my EOTech.

Oh I was referring to the stuff they market for ARs. UTG is junk to the Nth degree. Made with bad metal and with no real spec in mind.

I think you will like the MBUS. I have had them on a few guns. Ended up switching to Troys in the end but that was not due to any fault of the MBUS.
