Opinions on this Crossman air pistol

I was thinking of getting a Crossman American Classic Pump Pistol .177 caliber.

What is your opinion of this particular gun?

If it is the model 1377, get it. I have 2. Dandy shooters for the money. Mine is 25 years old. Shoots perfect, very accurate. Bought a new one for my son to use in 4-H shooting. It does as good as the 200-300 dollar pistols next to it. In fact, it has outshot many of them.
 
I bought a Crossman Classic from Midway earlier in the Summer. May not have as good a trigger as the higher priced guns and pumping it takes a bit of hand strength but overall a good air gun for the money and it's accurate. When I can't get to a range I shoot it out side on our deck. Actually not bad practice if like me you can't get to a range or a place to shoot often.
 
I bought one this summer I think the literature
said it was an H9 - NO MORE THAN 8 PUMPS was
repeated several times. 525 FPS in .177
for $60

besides shooting into a steel trap just one other
target(s) of opportunity, Magpies Next door neighbor
was nurturing some quail this summer - nice covey
and I like the squirrels which are vermin in this

I had one for years, shot the hell out of the local lizards and yard varmints.

Then I discovered the Co2 powered version.

Go to the web site, yo can build a custom gun. And get the 22 version. They are just too much fun!

I too have the 1377 and love it. It's a real killer within 25yds, but is accurate past that. You will be happy. Oh, and you'll never have to worry about empty CO2 bottles.

I think there's a pellet-only version and one that shoots both pellets and BBs. If you can get the pellet-only version, get that. The BB version is pretty inaccurate compared to my many other airguns. The only benefit of BBs is that you can load 3 at a time and get a slight shotgun-effect for plinking, otherwise, the pellets are more accurate and harder hitting.
 
My 1377 is very accurate with pellets, not at all with bb's. For all that pumping, I want to hit what I'm aiming at so all I use is pellets. A very fun gun and great practice when you can't get out to the range.
 
The problem with the 1377/22 is all that blinging pumping. It does effect your accuracy as your wrist gets very tired, That's why I say go Co2.

Any gun with a rifled barrel shouldn't really be used with steel BBs. They are undersized since there is no way an airgun can swage a steel BB into the rifling. The BB rattles down the bore, not getting the proper spin and also wearing the bore.

Steel BBs are made for smoothbore airguns.

If you want to shoot round shot in a rifled airgun, you can buy lead BBs. They are properly sized and soft enough to "take" the rifling. They'll be much more accurate and tend to hit harder as well since they're heavier.
 
I have one of those .177-cal Crossman air pistols...I use it in my basement "shooting range" when I can't get to the real range.

pretty darned accurate for an under $75 pellet gun. If I pump it up to 6 or more pumps, it will go through my backstop....1 LARGE box filled with cumpled paper...it then gets stopped by old bedsheet hanging behind the target box.
 
Excellent Gun!

My parents bought me one for my 12th B-Day. I shot it so much from then until the start of college that I wore it completely out. 10 pumps at 6000 ft. elevation worked really well. I used single BBs, multi BBs, pellets (works well w/ skirt forward as a massive hollow point), and birdshot (loaded like a muzzleloading shotgun w/ Kleenex wads). My dad made me a custom full flap holster that I still have today. It was a constant companion on my family’s mountain lion infested property above Boulder until I got my Enfield No. 2MKI* later in jr. high school. The only time I have fired a gun in self-defense, it was the one in my hand. At about 13 years old, I shot a charging viscous golden retriever in the head at point blank range- stopped the attack cold. I know it sounds kind of silly now, but it was really scary when it happened. I bought a new 1377 in college, and my dad still uses it for woodpeckers, voles, etc. around the house. I strongly recommend it!
