Guys, I went to the store to get a Glock 22 and found a Springfield XD ported that was mismarked. So, if it were you which would you get. Both are brand new...

Glock 22 .40 with 2 15rd mags = $509

Springfield 4in XD porte4d 9mm with 2 15rd mags = $459

Looking for your opinions. The guy said that he's going to up the price but he will sell it to me for the price I saw it at until the end of the week.

Springfield XD

I'm not a bigot. I like Glocks but I think you can probably get it cheaper. Since the porting is going to up the price(in a competitive market) I'd go with the XD.

I know a lot of people are going to talk about reliability, hating on one or the other.

They are both good guns.

I'd wait for a better price on a 22 (they run a little over 420 here in Az). The price on the XD isn't bad... Either way you get a good gun. Those are the kind of choices I like! Good or good! I'll take it!

(on my evil days I'd say my wife rarely looks at the CC bill and maybe I could... hide the purchase till it was paid off... you know, swing for both!)

If you are semi-new to handguns, I would not recommend the porting. I'm semi-new, and I've found that the porting causes me to flinch more when I shoot. The reason is that there is two big flames in front of your face and it's really loud. There are plus's however, little or no recoil and no muzzle flip.

Both are very good weapons. I can't speak to the XD but a friend of mine has a XD-45 and despite being a Glock fan he seems to really like it. I can speak of the Glock 22 as I've had one for a while now. Fantastic weapon. Incredibly durable and utterly reliable. IMHO one of the best duty/service pistols you can buy. And that's coming from a guy who grew up with 1911's and High Powers.

I don't like ported handgun, due to the flash at night. So I would choose the Glock.

Go back to the store. Triple check that both guns are unloaded. Close your eyes, pick up gun one, point in a safe direction as if you were aiming, then open your eyes and see how close the sights are to where you're looking. Repeat with gun two. This will show you how naturally each gun points for you. The Glocks and the XDs have significantly different grip angles, and one will definetly point betterthan the other. Go with the one that points most naturally for you. If the XD points best get one without the porting - the flash and muzzle blast can be nasty on ported guns.
