Opinions, reviews please: Fiocchi Shooting Dynamics

I reload for everything I shoot. That's a lot of reloading.

Just got a Kimber Team Match II 1911 in .38 Super and I am quite impressed. Looking at brass, the best it seems I can do is about 20 cents a piece, so loaded ammo at like 30-35 cents?

I can get a case of Fiocchi Shooting Dynamics 130 grs FMJ for about 28-29 cents a round. And, not have to scrabble around on the ground for brass and then, decide down the road whether I want to handload .38 Super.

But, is this Fiocchi ammo any good? It doesn't need to be the fastest. And, I am not a good enough pistol shot to benefit from the finest ammo there is, though this pistol is making me think about putting in the time to get better.

For me, "any good", means pretty consistent, pretty accurate, and not particularly dirty.

Your experiences with this ammunition and views on its suitability for the purpose I describe would be appreciated. Thanks very much.

No experience with Fiocci in .38 Super, but they make fine 9mm ammo. Some think it's loaded hotter than our domestic brands, never noticed it to be dirty or inconsistent.

Why not try a single box before you commit to a case?

I have bought and shot a lot of Fiocchi ammunition in the last year. It is flawless for me in 1200 round of 9 mm, 800 rounds of .223, and 600 rounds of 45 ACP. It’s accurate, cleaner than most, and runs well in any gun I shoot.

Like Buzznrose I have used quite a bit of Fiocchi ammo; pistol, rifle, and shotgun shells. All of it has been first rate.

I've recently began shooting their 9mm 115gr FMJ and 38 SPL. 130gr FMJ. Agree with the above that it is a touch warmer and burns pretty clean.

I have never tried it in 38 Super, but I had a few hundred rounds of Fiocchi truncated cone 40 S&W that I couldn't find a single gun that could get through a full magazine of without a FTE. The truncated cone ammunition is all that I had a problem with though. I've had the regular FMJ in 9mm and 40 and not had a problem with either.

I've fired a lot of Fiocchi ammo I'm various calibers, mainly 38 spl and 357 mag and never had any issues. They seem like a good choice

Thanks very much. I'm familiar with Fiocchi in general but haven't run across this "shooting dynamics" sub-marque before and given the price wanted to see if there was a bad reason it was so seemingly economical.

The Shooting Dynamics line is their cheaper stuff for range use. I'd view it as similar in marketing strategy to Winchester white box, Blazer Brass, or Federal American Eagle.

I bought 1000 rounds of Shooting Dynamics 9mm 115 fmj a couple years ago and have reloaded most of that without any issues. I liked it enough I just bought another 1000 rounds a month or so ago. It burns much cleaner than WWB. I've never bench tested it's accuracy or chrono'd the speed but it works great for my uses, which is cheap range ammo.

The only odd thing is the bullets are coated with something that makes them the same color as brass. It's not the copper color you see on most other brands.

I've tried .45 ACP, and 12 & 20 Ga., all three were fine.

Fiocchi is good stuff.
I dislike their .45ACP loads though as I reload and they tend to have small primers

I've got some of their regular 38 Super ammo right now, I have no idea if I've ever shot the Shooting Dynamics version, but I've never had problems with any of Fiocchi's ammo.

It's just ammo. I agree it is a bit warmer than most.
