Barrel is inbound (24"), dies and brass are also purchased so now I'm searching for optics.

So far I'm thinking Of either a Vortex Viper 6-5x20x50 or the Leupold Mark AR MOD 6x18x40 but am open to suggestions. Would like to keep it below $600 for the scope.

Gonna use the rifle for long range target and Coues Whitetail hunting here in Arizona where shots 500+ are not uncommon.

Suggestions?

Well, I'm using a Vortex 4-16x50 on my 20" 6.5 Grendel and have never had any problems with it.
Excellant scope for the price range and lifetime warranty.
That's hard to beat.

Not really any help to you, I'm running a Leupold Mark 4 6.5-20x50mm on my Grendel. This is an awesome scope if you find the extra coins to get it!

rb288, which series? Is it a Crossfire or higher series? Crossfire II seems to be a good price for the 6x18x44 series ($199 from Camera Land) but am wondering if I should spend the extra on the Viper series instead.

The viper series is worth the extra

You get XR coatings, ArmorTek coating, XD glass, argon purging

The diamondback HP series would be a better option than the crossfire series but not quite as expensive as the viper series

those are the 2 lines i would strongly recommend by Vortex for your application/budget
