Orange County, CA CCW

Turner's Outdoorsman offers a course on Orange County CCW course. It further says on the ads that completion of the course does not guarantee permit. However, what strikes me as odd is the fact that this course is given on a regular basis which lends to a notion that the course is popular and perhaps ordinary folks are able to obtain CCW permits.

Anyone here from Orange County, CA that can make a comment as far as how restrictive it is to get a permit in OC?

I would advise not applying using your nickname here, but yes, Orange County CA currently grants CCW requests fairly regularly.

Thanks! No, my userid will not be used in the CCW application ;-)) Regarding my userid, I hope people won't take it seriously for if I were really dangerous, I won't use that name out in the open. Wife would have killed me long time ago, trust me! ;-))

OK, Orange County is at least POSSIBLE to score CCW in.

You have to come up with something at least plausible in terms of CCW "good cause". And it's still a bit of a crapshoot...basically, Sheriff Carona tries to play fair, but he has a whole bank of underlings (Captains, Lts, etc) who "pre-screen" applications. They range from NRA supporters to "Sarah Brady Zombie Clones"[tm].

Sigh.

Still better than most urban agencies though.
