So, maybe the good sheriff should consider parting with her own firearm. I'd say she fails the test of " ... determine whether the gun owners demonstrated an immediate fear for their safety or held an occupation so inherently dangerous that they needed to carry concealed weapons in public..." After all, she doesn't serve warrants, go out on SWAT activities, do traffic stops, or patrol neighborhoods. I would imagine her activity is pretty much limited to talking with bureaucrats, politicians, and members of her department. I'd also imagine that on the job she's always surrounded by armed officers who are more than capable of protecting her as well as themselves. So why does she need a gun? If other people have to demonstrate need, why shouldn't she?
