I was surprised when I read the original post, did a double-take when I read the name. I know this guy! I don't really know him, an acquaintance of a friend, met him a couple of times years ago.

I will try to be careful to avoid damaging his reputation without really knowing him or the details of his case. All I can say is that he is not the type of person that I would be comfortable buying a gun from or selling one to, matter of fact I simply would not. Then again I almost never sell a gun and whenever I have it's been to someone I know personally.

I called up my friend that knew him just now. He had already heard David Bacon was in jail and wasn't surprised because of what he knew about him and his very odd behavior. He may well be a nice guy but he definitely lived on the edge.

Again, I don't know the particulars and haven't seen the guy in years. It does sound like he was set up pretty bad, and most people don't have a clue regarding these laws, myself included until recently, reading forums. That being said, I would imagine he was already on their radar for other stuff and they just figured out a way to get him. I truly hope this is appealed and justice is done if it was entrapment, but at the same time it's hard for me to feel very sorry for him.

right on, yall can tell me what I dont know, but you dont know who I am either... so its ok..

law bot, Im not misleading people at all my friend, Im speaking from personal experience.. bout you? just cause lil ol you disagree sher dont mean Im misleading.. does it?
there are laws against unknowingly transferring firearms... they may be state to state, but they do exisit, dominantly..
but you can blow all the steam you need because you disagree with me, thats fine.. I think the courts kinda dictated the outcome of this case.. not you, not me... eh!?!

Precision.. cmon man.. dream land? you dont have to be so passive bout yer insults bro..lol
nah Im not in a dream land, mabey like, mabey unlike you, Ive actually experienced the law regaurding firarm posession and transfer.. it wasnt fun, but I came out clean.. and yes 99 times out of 100, the enforcement powers DO adhere to guidelined so they CAN bust you, and it dont backfire and cost them the coin. you see, if they want you, they do EVERYTHING by the book so they CAN get you... get it?!

like I said Ive been thru the system on these kindsa things.. and that "entrapment" term gets tossed around WAY too much, believe me, or not.

now aside from all the outside of the real point discussion...... yall would support this kind of behavior?! support or condone it? maby cover it up?!

I dont like all the laws, n I sher dont like too many LEO, mosta them were picked on as kids is how I see it.. but the law is the law.. and what kind of war can we wage if we support criminals?.....

Whoa- just tried to read through all that was posted while I was writing my post; I'm lost. Lots more to the story. I didn't realize this happened a couple years ago, surprised I never heard about it at the time.

I think when a person gets involved in shady dealings like that, you have to expect legal troubles will follow sooner or later. Nope, don't feel sorry for him.

innerpiece

I apologize, I did not mean anything personal on the dream land comment. I believe the ATF follows the rules as long as they are winning, but if not, they think nothing of bending the rules or going as far as blatant fabrication and law breaking if that's what they need to get a conviction. Unlike most gun owners BATFE is not to be trusted in any way. They have been caught in so many lies, perjuries, and blatant misuse of power to ever have any credibility again. I'm sorry to hear you were involved in a firearms related issue but if you came out on top consider youself lucky as most do not.
