Going to go shooting at the infamous Dump next Saturday at either 10 or 11 a.m. So far there are three of us going, rain or shine.

If you're interested in shooting and meeting new people, come on up. It's usually great fun and a nice drive too.

If you need directions, I'll be happy to give them to you.

Carl

I wish I could go. I have a code update class that I have to attend.:( Eight hours of pure boredom. I will be at JCGC tomarrow at the usuall time though.

Lars

I'll be there this time. Been shooting Thursdays at JC lately too is my main excuse for not being there lately. :( Bossman#1 is killing me.

BTW, saw the knife at The Mechanic's house last evening. Sweeeeeettt! I want one. We'll have to talk knives tomorrow.

Yeh were is this dump ?

I live in McMinnville and I go to a place up on Meadowlake road past the dam. Just a pit of red mud, but seems to be quite popular.

A shooting buddy affectionately named the place "The Dump" because low life types dump their soiled carpet, and other crap there.

The Dump is 10+ miles past Estacada on Hwy 224. My odometer never tells the same story twice. When you get to the Memaloose Bridge, it's another two miles, off the left side of the road and pretty easily identifiable - and there's a high-tension wire tower right by where you park.

The range is approximately 85 yards, with a hillside as the backdrop. Great for shooting clays.

Come on up and meet some new shooters.

Carl

Thanks for the offer, I cant see myself makin it up this weekend. I will be busy with airsoft this weekend.

Maybe another time.

I look forward to it. Only problem is that Estecada is a bit far from me(McMinville). But I am a new shooter and I am eager to meet other peeps to shoot with.(takin the wife shootin just doesnt cut it).

LOL. At least you can get her to go with you.

As far as the drive goes, it's pretty much highway speed the whole way. Beautiful drive to boot!! The road parallels the Clackamas River much of the way. It's Heaven on Earth up there.

Starting to sound like a broken record but I must work this weekend. Boss overloaded me with work and more on the way, very soon guys I will make it back.

Tom's Rifle Range?

As it was known many years ago? Near Douglas Ridge Rifle Club?

When I lived in Portland (when SIG and Sauer were separate companies) I used to shoot there. Or up past Rhodedendron at the rock quarrie/dump.

Have fun guys, too far for me to make it this time.

Archie

I get a chance to shoot once in a while at Douglas Ridge. I'll be joining up real soon, so I can drive out after work and work on my 308 reloads at the bench.

The Dump is for Bumpin for sure!! :) Sorry you can't join us.

I can't go, because I've got other shooting arrangements this weekend (I don't have a car, so I have to stick with those).

I'm going up near Mary's Peak (Corvallis/Philomath area) to shoot. anyone who wants to come PM me and we'll set a link-up point.

Hell, Braddock might be able to make it. :)

You'll have to connect up with us sometimes. Small Army! :)

Could take a trip down south too I suppose.

carlos? How is your Ham radio stuff going? I have to work weekinds these days... "boo!!" but I do get tues and wends off. what night do you guys get out to the range you talk about (johnson creek) I think.

Hi guys. I'm new here and was referred to this thread by a fellow Oregonian THR member. I live in Portland (westside) and as I said in my other thread I'm getting back into target shooting etc.

What dealers (hopefully in the Portland area) would you recommend that I visit to be able to touch and handle several different handguns. The ones that I'm most interested in currently are H&K, Glock, SigSauer, and Ruger. I'm looking for a shop with good prices and excellent service.

I notice you mention the Johnson Creek range are there any indoor ranges in the Portland area? I remember years ago there used to be a indoor range somewhere in Tigard (near Washington Square) that I think went out of business.

Thanks for the recommendations and advice.

Safado: If you're on the west side, I'd recommend The Gun Broker on Hwy 99 in Tigard. Good folks, decent prices, and they have a decent sized and varied selection.

Their address is 13500 SW Pacific Hwy, suite 26.. it's on the left-hand side if you're coming from 217. Phone's 503-639-9614.

(BTW I'm not affiliated with them except as a satisfied customer :))

shoot outside (it's better for you!)

Kieth's in Gresham has a nice selection but I don't buy NIB from him as he does not stand behind the warrantys and charges more for credit cards. He has lots of used pistols though and I buy one on ocassion.

So, Dude, you going to make it?

I notice you mention the Johnson Creek range are there any indoor ranges in the Portland area?

Johnson Creek Gun Club is on 72nd and Lamphere Street. Lamphere is a block south of Johnson Creek Blvd in southeast Portland. It's a great place to shoot. There's another indoor range a friend shoots at on 60th or so and Glisan Street. Haven't been there, so I'm guessing on the exact location. Friend swears by the place.

Mark, Wednesday evenings are regular nights to shoot with the Dump Gang and I've been shooting Thursdays with a fellow I know from downtown Portland. Haven't had as much time as I'd like to study for the test, but I'm about ready to jump in. Been enjoying building an extensive list from my scanning activities.

Keith's Sporting Goods has a good selection of guns, but Keith works there. :( If you can get around his bull****, they're a good place to do business with. Just don't expect customer service after the sale. Plain and simple.

Another route would be Northwest Armory in Milwaukie (on McLoughlin) as you head towards Oak Grove area.

Then, there's Fisherman's Marine Supply. I've purchased a Glock from these guys. I like em.

nope, too busy (woman involved) and to much good shooting close-by. I'd invite y'all out for the 1000-enth time but I'd look desperate! It seems I'm driving to Biggs Saturday and perhaps picking up another P7.

I do need to pop over 'cause I have 60 or so .308 NATO tracer bullets and wanted to know if you would load up 30 for me if I provide the brass........and you can keep the other 30 (+)??

Dude, you're whipped. Haven't seen you down here in the wet country for quite a while. That P7 fever you have seems to linger on.
