Please excuse the use of "Assault Rifle". I have criticized the writer for this, and he maintains that it will get more publicity.

I understand this is a somewhat local event, but I felt that this was the best forum for it to be seen by the widest number of people. Feel free to post this on other boards.

Second Amendment Week:
Monday the 12th - Friday the 16th

Events will include:

Rifle Raffle: come try to win an AR-15 assault rifle! Tickets are $2, and you can get three for $5. Will be in the quad selling tickets all week - drawing on Friday!

FREE for students Concealed Handgun License class: last year we broke a record with 175 participants in our CHL class - let's beat it again! Wednesday, 6pm, in Milam Hall on Oregon State University's campus.

Second Amendment Rights Rally with Lars Larson and other very special guests: Friday April 16th, from 12-6, Lars Larson will be broadcasting from the Memorial Union Quad!

As for the drawing, we have decided NOT to allow remote ticket buying. All tickets must be purchased in person, on campus in the Memorial Union Quad from 10AM to 4PM. Anyone is free to come by and hang out at any time.

We are also doing an empty holster protest the whole week so go ahead and do that. If you want to CC, knock yourself out. Just don't wave it around. You can open carry, but get a lawyer first.

The wrong sort. Your buddy is making a mistake perpetuating a lie the antis use against us. He's more interested in the attention than the intention of such an event.

They did this a few years ago, kinda the same issues use of the word Assault rifle and such. I fully support the idea but not the execution.

One of the student political groups at Clemson raffled off an AK, either during, or shortly after I was there... (don't remember the exact timing) There was considerable knashing of teeth from the liberals. There were entire classes (english of course) that, during class time, went as a group to go protest. I'd have been PISSED enough to do some serious letter writing to every administrator at that school if I were in a class with a professor so enamored with pushing their own agenda that they were cancelling class that I paid for to do so.

I emailed the guy who was heading up the raffle, and don't remember "assault rifle" appearing anywhere... it was a while ago though.

Wish we had that when I was at OSU! It's gotta be select fire if it's an assault rifle so better up the ticket prices a bit!

It's been fixed, it now says an AR-15 rifle, as it should have all along.

Hey, my alma mater! Go Beavs!

Wish this had gone on while I was attending. Instead, we just had students participating in anti-Bush campaigns in the quad during liberal "Rock the Vote" type music concerts.

It is against Oregon University System policy to posses a concealed weapon anywhere on campus at a state college or university (even with a valid Oregon CHL), so those planning on CC'ing should be aware. I wish the organizers and participants the best. Although not as hippy-infested as the University of Oregon, OSU still has a pretty left-wing atmosphere.

Johhny- your right OUS does have an anti-ccw policy but its know to be illegal since it violates state preemption. Thats why there were no charges in the Jeremy Maxwell case. Actually it would have been better if they did charge maxwell since the law is so clear he would have been cleared, but then OUS would have a clear loss and well they wouldn't want that.

-I am not a layer just a recent college grad who cares A LOT about CHL rights and campus carry.

When I was attending in the early 2000's, I never would have thought about CC'ing on campus, mainly because at that time, I only owned a Remington 870, a single-shot .22 bolt-action rifle, and a Ruger 9mm handgun, all of which lived at my parent's house and not with me in Corvallis.

In the wake of events such as Virginia Tech, if I were attending OSU now, I think I would say, "Oregon University System policy be damned" and I'd probably carry.

I would definitely be attending this event if I lived in or near Corvallis. I'd sure like a crack at that AR15.

I heard some of Lars' show from the event. There was some prof. he had on opposing the event that made an arse of himself showing how little he knew about guns, self defense, and the "assault rifle" they were raffling (ie-they are only made for assaulting someone).
