organizing your reloading area?

Ok guys I am moving rather soon and it just hit me I AM NOT very organized and I won't have as much space at the new place so I need to get organized. How do yall organize your stuff in as much detail as possible pics are welcome as well.

Go on down to wally world and grab some plastic totes is multiple sizes. Should help keep things organized and help with storage.

Goodwill has cheap bins and containers that work great.


Akro bins are nice. Harbor freight has a set of smaller akro like bins plus rails for like 15$

A metal storage cabinet with shelves works pretty well. Like this http://www.quill.com/hon-72h-assemb...=901&Find_Number=SC1872PY&promoCode=302010099 They're pricey but if you look around like I did you might find a used one cheap. I picked mine up for $25, just needed a little re-inforcing where it had some minor rust. Another alternative is a sturdy bookshelf. If you have kids to worry about just add some doors and a simple locking system to the bookshelf. Akro bins (or similar) are nice to store brass in http://www.akro-mils.com/Products/Industrial.aspx . Besides brass everything else gets put on a shelf, powder and primers seperate from each other.

Horseman, I don't know how much room you will have when you get to your destination, but make sure you put all your reloading equipment and supplies in all the same boxes when you move or you'll never see some of it again.
I moved 5 years ago and still don't think I've found everything I had.
Just keep your primers somewhere away from your powder and you should be fine.
As far as room goes for my reloading supplies at my new location, if your like me they will displace something you discover you just don't want as bad as you want your loading equipment and supplies. Worst case you can always build an outdoor shed and load out there.

Myself, I got a couple of old cabinets they were throwing away at work and fixed them up to hold my wood working equipment and that made room for my reloading stuff. It takes a lot of planning after you get moved in and see what you actually have to work with. You'll find a way.

For almost 17 years I used to have a hallway closet as my "loading room." You will become inventive and organized. Build some shelves and keep your work area clear. The plastic totes work as do coffee cans and baggies. Mark them clearly when you move and keep it all together.

Most of my organization comes from plastic containers, like the large Coffee Mate and 3 lb containers coffee now comes in. I store those in one of those old, heavy-duty, bomb-proof filing cabinets I found at a yard sale.

I have enough area that I have a steel cabnet that I keep most of my stuff in. Above my reloading bench I have shelfs to keep stuff on. Above my cleaning bench I have shelfs to keep stuff on. Also I switched from Coffee containers to those Glad plastic containers a couple of years ago so I can visually see what is in them so I don't have to grab one and look inside to see how much stuff I have. Plus they stack nicer and utilize the space a little better. Less wasted space with square and rectangular vs round storage containers.

A buddy of mine has a rather small area. He has multiple holes drilled on his bench so he can change his reloaders out as needed. He has storage below his small bench and above it with shelves. He also picked up an old school lockers (about 8" wide by 3' tall or so). There are two side by side and two high. He really packs alot of stuff in those and it is orginized very nicely.

Buy a cheap label maker while you are at it. It's way easier to put stuff back in the right place if it's all labeled.

I picked up a nice cabinet at a local surplus store. Various sizes of drawers and heavy duty, should have picked up a few more at the time. The roll top style door is locking for secure storage, not like a safe but keeps the kids out.



That's what I need natgas a machinists tool box to keep some of my tools in. I just moved and this time I set my bench up out at my shop instead of in my garage. I wish it was still in my garage for convenience , but I am glad I don't have the mess at my house anymore.

Kicked a lot of my R/C stuff out and dedicated the area to reloading... mad a huge difference.. now i can Find things....LOL

I try to keep things simple. I only load 4 calibers and use two different powders. I keep a can of each powder on the shelf, fill empty powder cans with cast boolits, boxed brass as well as empty trays on the shelf. scale, calipers, impact puller, razor blades screwdriver, ammo can of primers, powder measure disks, primer arms etc etc
