I just went on MidwayUSA and Midsouth and bought myself some reloading stuff...

RCBS chargemaster combo
neck sizer dies in .223 and .308
Nylon brushes for both calibers
100 SMK's each in .223 and .308
3lbs Varget
1lb H335

Total cost: $450. Ouchie.

Your wallet will only hurt for a while, but the toys will give you joy for a long time. You'll tell us what you think of the chargemaster after you've played with for a bit?

I am just a bit jealous. I've got a "fiscal freeze" going on here while I recover from some unexpected outgo. So many toys, so little money!

Why buy powder from Midway? The HazMat fee and the surcharge on the actual shipping cost just don't make it worth it at all. No local retaillers?

I don't know about your area, but where I live, gun shops sell powder for about $25 per pound and you can't even find an 8# keg. I buy most of my powder online in 8# kegs or at gunshows for about $16-18 per lb. When I buy surplus powder, I usually pay about $90-100 per keg shipped, including HAZMAT. That's about $12.50 per pound. Even name brand powder is only about $140 with shipping. That's still only $17.50 per can-far better than I pay at local gunshops. I'd wager most folks on here are buying in kegs rather than 1lb cans.

Yea the nearest gun store to me that sells gunpowder is about an hour away, and they charge about $25/LB, so ordering 4 lbs is just a bit cheaper, plus I dont have to spend money on gas and drive for 2 hours round trip.

And yes I'll let everyone know how the Chargemaster works, I've been looking for good reviews, but there is a lack of them. I'll post a good one when I've used it.

The approximately $900 I spent for reloading gear, powder, 1000 pieces of brass and a couple thousand bullet, chrono and tripod for the chrono looked scary at first. After about one year of competition shooting the gear had paid its way.

If you are like me it gets worse. I just started reloading and was having a blast. Then I ran out of stuff to reload so I bought another gun to reload for. I find it kind of fun to work up loads for new gun. My wife is not so sure I am saving money reloading or not

Yeah, that makes sense poodleshooter. Living here in gun friendly Georgia must have me spoiled. I have a choice of 5 different sources within ten miles of my house. Plus I reload for my Anshutz .22 Hornet. 8 grains of VV N110. Lmao, a two pound jug lasts me forever. Heaven forbid I decide to reload for my AR.

Finally got my Chargemaster. It works awesome. The above review covers most everything, but I'll add some info. Dispenses powder very fast and very accurate. I seated my bullets while the next powder charge was going and it saves a ton of time. Weighing brass and bullets is a breeze. It gives you an instant readout wtihin a second of putting the brass or bullet in the pan. Emptying it out is also pretty easy, just turn the drain plug and all the powder pours out. HOWEVER, there seems to be a bit of a problem with mine. When I press the . (decimal) button, it gives me a 4 instead. When i press the 4 button, it gives me a decimal. Also, when I press the CLEAR button, it gives me a 6. I might have to send it in to get that fixed. Otherwise, everything is great.

I had a similar problem with the keypad when I bought my Chargemaster. Give RCBS a call and they'll take care of it.
