This heritage of ours is a proud heritage. It trails back way before, long before this country was even founded. Common ground was made from many cultures and cultivated over several centuries. Something started to bind us together and it took a rifle to do it. You weren't considered a man if you couldn't shoot, it meant that you would encounter difficulty in bringing home game. It meant you couldn't support a family or survive.
Like a dog when developed by a trainer the Army takes that base living instinct that you have with a rifle and turns that boy/man into a soldier and that's what I've become. The Army knows how to do it. That's what the Army does with the youth that go into that institution.
This nation values its people who are born in the north or born in the south. she places much more value on her citizens of different cultures than I have personally seen in other countries. What makes this nation so great is its versatility when it wants to come together it will when it finds purpose and it's necessary. So be proud of your heritage, you have a right to who you are as an individual.
The British were awed by our accuracy with a rifle during their wars against us so when they captured one of our infantrymen they took him over to England and put him on a public show if you will, to display his amazing accuracy with a rifle at long distances that they were unaccustomed to, even then it was hard for them to believe it.
When the Civil War fell upon us it was no wonder that we fell like dominoes battle after battle, it was because of our demonstrated accuracy and for the better part of it honor was the mainstay. It kept most of us from running from the face of battle.
WWI and WWII The Germans who was our enemy faced our accurate and withering fire that was simply second to none and feared it.
Speaking about Second none of this could have been as possible in the nineteenth and twentieth century save that it be for the Second Amendment. The Right to Keep and Bear Arms. Go to a third world country and watch them conduct training for an Army like I did and you'll see why the Second Amendment is so important to us (and so is the Civilian Marksmanship Program by the way) . For some of those countries do nothing but throw a rifle to that third world soldier (if you want to call him one), who has never fired a round in his life, give him lukewarm training at best, march him half to death if that and throw him at the front line. He can't shoot he just points and pulls the trigger, knows few tactics. That government will use those kinds of soldiers as a sacrifice of human life
The second amendment benefits the free world whether they want to believe it or not. Just ask France, England, Germany, Haiti, Grenada, Panama, Philippines and Korea just to name a few. These were countries that we bailed out. Their economies are healthier and by and large much more robust because of our military intervention. Put enough boots on the ground and you get to dictate decisions, it’s called “American Policy”
And it still works today.
Forums like the THR serve to help spread that legacy whether realized or not. The Second Amendment is an unshakable value that’s held dear to untold millions of Americans and absolutely no politician should never take that away, ever. It is our responsibility to not let this legacy of ours ever die out only to make way for quick and fast laws placed in the books chipping away at the 2nd Amendment
Take pride in knowing that you are a part of the world’s best legacy, all started with the well written and unshakable U.S. Constitution and all of it’s amendments especially the second one.
God Bless These Here United States and the Freedom that We Uphold
