Outrageous CBS article

I havent posted anything in regards to the VT shooting up untill now for a reason which will be made clear by the end of my post. Let me just ask what you hope to accomplish by bickering back and forth on feedback sections of new articles? In all the comments I have ever read on these things (feedback sections) never once have I seen a comment that said "OMG your right, I never thought of it that way before". The real battle is going to be in congress, not in flame wars on message boards.

Some of the comments I have read in various different articles regarding this tragic event are beyond disgusting. Some of the comments from the pro-gunners make me ashamed to be a gun owner, some of the comments from the antis make me ashamed to be an American, some of the comments from both sides make me ashamed to be a human being. If you do plan to engage in pointless debate on CNN, ABCs, AOLs, or any other news website please keep it respectful, and rational. Lots of people are going to be reading these things for awhile, and I dont want a few rabid dogs painting us all as nut jobs to them.

Honestly I think its terrible that the gun control debate has already been drug into this not even 24 full hours later. I am bothered by antis that only see this event as a way to further their cause as much as I am bothered by pro-gun folks that only see this event as a threat to their rights. 33 lives most of them young people with bright futures ahead of them were ended in one brutal act. It would be nice if we could all just give the victims families some time before we drug their tragedy into the center ring of the gun control debate. I guess that cant happen though.

Something I saw in that link that really makes me boil over....

A CBS "Fast Fact" about a gun show the previous weekend near Blacksburg where 405 guns were sold.

Just what exactly does that have to do with this shooting ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

the reason why so many pro-gun people immediately see this as a threat (myself included) is because we potentially have everything to lose. And those of us that believe that, if you have seen what the anti's are already saying RIGHT NOW, are right. The anti's have nothing to lose, and that is the greatest difference between them and us. I am very sad to see that so many people died. One death is a tragedy in a shooting like this. But we all know that there will be a political battle very soon and it may be the biggest battle for the 2nd Ammendment we may ever face. There is no going back now, the battle lines are being drawn. United we stand, divided, we will all lose.

I hope no one on this forum is part of the name calling. The facts are on our side, we should all register and start pointing out the facts, minus the emotions and name calling. Here is my post:

Gun control does not work. Canada has strict gun control but is more violent than the US, and crime there is getting progressively worse each year:

Brittan BANNED all handguns (and just about all rifles) about 15 years ago yet about 28% of them carry guns:

300 million people live here. There is always going to be violent people and guns are like drugs, you’re just kidding yourself if you think passing a law 'corrects' the lawless.

This website has the complete text of a FBI 5 year study titled Violent Encounters: Felonious Assaults on America's Law Enforcement Officers."
http://www.calgunlaws.com/article-480.html

Their conclusion? Criminals are not in the least deterred by gun laws. What a shock. Just like drug dealers are not deterred by drug laws, and murderers are not deterred by laws. Passing a law and pretending you are safe is exactly what Virginia did, and this terrible incident revealed the truth of the matter.

I understand how the gun haters feel. Frustration and extreme sorrow over the whole situation. The difference between me and them is, I blame the person wielding the weapon, not the weapon itself. The blame needs to be placed on the person behind the wheel and not the object used for the destruction.
