Finally got to the range to try out my Christmas presents!
My folks got me a Wilson 14.5" M4 profile barrel (I pinned and welded on a Phantom yesterday, BTW) and a RRA bolt carrier group. So I assembled them promptly on a 60's era Colt M16 small hole slickside upper, slapped it on a RRA lower with a 4 position stock, and PRESTO, instant GUU-5/P!
At 75 yards, I zeroed her in (range limit), and continued to burn up the 200 rounds of Olympic SS-109 I had with me. Hooah!
Second rifle was an original 1876 Winchester musket in 45-60, nice. A true rare treat, very soft shooting. I love the clouds of black powder!
Finally, a May 1945 dated Walther K43! The only downside was the limit of 20 rounds of 8mm I brought. Man that was one of the sweetest shooting rifles I've ever handled! Obviously held like a KAR98, but you wouldn't have guessed you were shooting 8mm. It felt more like and SKS in terms of recoil. Beautiful weapon!
