At a recent gun show I purchased some Winchester 9mm 115gr FMJ, 9mm 124gr FMJ, 40 S&W 165gr FMJ, 40 S&W 180gr FMJ and .45acp 230gr FMJ bullets.
Winchesters Components Catalog does not list a recommend length and the bullets have different shape than the bullets from Hornady and Sierra which I have manuals for. Does anyone use these bullets, if so what length do you recommend.

I use Winchester 9mm 115/124 gr FMJ RN and 1.125"-1.135" OAL have worked well for different pistols I used. Due to pointed nose profile, any shorter than 1.125", the bullet nose diameter decreases less than the diameter of the sized case neck diameter.

Winchester White Box factory loads them to 1.150"-1.160".

--------------------

I load 40S&W 155/165/180 gr TCFP at 1.125" OAL and they all worked great in all the pistols I use. I can load RNFP to 1.135" OAL without feeding/chambering problems, but usually load to 1.130" OAL.

--------------------

I usually load 45ACP 230 gr FMJ RN to 1.250"-1.260" OAL but WWB factory loads them to 1.275"

You didn't post which pistols you are loading for, but if you shoot XD pistols, you may need to use shorter OAL than typical.

Thanks that's a big help.
I load for 9mm Colt Commander, H&K 40 S&W and Colt Gold Cup .45

Go with what bds recomended. That is about where I seated them in various pistols, XDMs in .40, Taurus 24/7s 9mm and a .40, Taurus PT111 Mellium 9mm, and a Beretta 92F 9mm, and Mellium sub compact .40, Glock 17. With his bds posted COL as a working range, you should easily find the working COL for you particular pistol's.
I like the bullet shape they use, it was an incredibly accurate FMJ. I did notice the jacket is much softer than some of the other FMJ I've used, so be careful when you are closing the mouth when seating, or you'll deform the bullet by too much taper crimp. Use just enough to bring the mouth back to contact with the bullet, especially with the 9mm.
