Took the suggestion of some of the replies to my What gun to hang over the fireplace thread. Picked up an M91/30. It still needs cleaned up but I think it looks good. Not too bad of shape for $85 out the door. I never really had an interest in Milsurps but I could see that changing. Anyways, here it is. Oh yeah, and the wife thinks it looks good too, so just have to "redecorate" the mantle, loose the violet candle etc...

Is it loaded? I would be awfully tempted to have five rounds in the magazine. You know, just in case.

Then you could slowly rock forward in your chair, give a steely glance, ping a wad of chaw off the can and say "Fetch me my shootin iron from up off the far'place. They's gettin on muh last damn nerve!"

Of course, you've got to mutter incoherantly to yourself everytime you pull it down, occasionally tossing in something about "damn kids" and your lawn.

I like it.

Sweet. I'd like to get a sxs double barrel 12 gauge to hang over my mantle. I don't know if the wife would take to it though. Usually she does the decorating and I buy the guns...she might not take to me both buying the guns and then decorating with them. :p

Nope not loaded, not currently anyway. Intend to pull the firing pin out. Wouldn't want to risk arming an intruder  Hopefully I can pick up an extra bolt to have handy should I need to bring it into action. It's not really intended for that though.

I do like pwrtools idea, will need to work on my southern draawww but muttering incoherantly shouldn't be a problem.

You should also invest in a level.
Actually I just stuck it up there on a couple of existing spikes. Surprised they worked as well as they did. Not sure what I will do long term. Probably nothing or a while. But thanks for noticing :).
