"Over There" TV Flick - Ejection Port on Left Side?

I've been seeing an ad for "Over There" (Tonight @ 10PM EDT FX). It has a fella in combat gear firing what I assume is an M-16, but it's a left side view and shows a fired round exiting the ejection port.

We have left-handed M-16's? I suppose it could be, but, since I don't know for sure... what say you? Maybe a flipped negative?
 
I've never heard of them being issued in the service. That's what the brass deflector is for - keeps cartridges from flying in the face of lefties.
 
I noticed that as well. Stag Arms sells lefty AR15 models. Whether they or something similar is used by the military now, I don't know. When I was in the Army thay had a plastic attachment that caused ejected brass to be deflected down for left-handers, but that was 20 years ago.

I'm glad I am not crazy. I saw it as well. It it is a flipped image. There is NO reason for the military to issue left side guns that don't have parts that match ride side guns when the right side guns have the case deflectors that make them okay for lefties to shoot without problem.

I just saw the commercial too (watching "When Chef's attack: Filthiest restaurants" OMG that show makes you not wanna eat out ever again) and I was gonna post the exact same thing.

But what do I see, this post on the main forum. Took my post! :D

Looks like an interesting show though. I'm waiting til' "Wanted" comes out on TBS. That looks like an interesting show for some reason.
 
Well, the storyline(s) might be decent (real things), but if that's a negative flip, they just don't know how much flak they'll be getting for technical accuracy.

On the other hand it may be a good marketing ploy - like misspelling a key word in an ad to get attention.

We'll see.
 
It might be an intentional negative flip. I seem to remember something about art composition from High School art class. Something about, considering we normally read left to right, pointing images to the left (direction weapon is firing in this case) causes some sort of conflict, making the image stick in your head more. We just caught them at it. :evil:

Image flipping is common in the movies. Sometimes when their editing a piece they realize that they really need to have the actor looking the other way. It's a heck of a lot easier to flip a negative then reshoot a scene. 90% of the time you'll never even notice, btw.

Anyone here see "Hellboy?" There was a negative flip in a scene in the caverns. The main characters "Fist of Doom" wound up being on his opposite arm for a scene. Not many people noticed.

There's a negative flip on the credits of the old "Miami Vice" show to. That flip created a "left handed" speed boat.
 
Way too artsy fartsy for a war show.

Quite gory, lack of character development, at least the shell came out of the right side of the ejection port in the show. :D

When I saw the guy get blown up and the legs still walking I was like :what:

All in all however, I dont think I'm gonna follow this show... :eek:
