I just picked up a used P12-45 in Stainless. It is 5 years old, but according to the previous owner it only has 250 rounds through it. I does look like new!!!

If it shoots every time and does it well, it will probably become a carry gun.

The questions are: What are you Para Owner's shooting in them and what type of holster's work well for Concealed Carry?? I'm using 230 grain Golden Sabre's in my full size 1911 and carry it in a Brommeland Max Con V.

Thanks for any advice...

If you have feeding problems, a common ocurrence, a change of mag springs is all it usually takes. I use Fiocchi 230gr FMJ on my P12-45 Limited. I have both an IWB and the Safepacker for it. Also carried in my Bianchi shoulder holster(x-15, IIRC). It all depends on what I had for breakfast.

Congratulations. You are going to love it.

I kinda thought that with the shorter barrel, you should use a lighter round?? I guess that I'll probably try the Golden Sabre's in it first. If they work OK, then that will probably end up being my carry round. you can go nuts trying different ammo.

I think the general idea is the heavier bullet moving at slower spends more time in the barrel allowing proportionally more of the nominal velocity to be developed. Guns vary so a chronograph is the only way to be sure if you really worry about it.

Personally I want to maximize the product of sectional density X velocity since this is proportional to penetration everything else being equal. In short barrels getting adaquate penetration is the third most important thing behind bullet placement and bullet placement. I only carry the heaviest bullet in a given caliber, 102gr in .380, 147gr in 9mm, 180gr in .40S&W, and 230gr in .45ACP.

My experience with Para 45ACP double stack mags is spring life is rather short and they are very sensitive to dirt causing the follower to bind leading to "ride over feed failures". I've a Para P44, P13, & P10 and the Springfield clone of the P12, not sure I'd trust any of them for carry as it doesn't take much dirt, fowling, or sand in the mag to cause a jam. Fun range guns, but PITA to have the clean the mags so often.
